yep i tried tyres first, then played with caster which made things worse, but have yet to touch the rear toe. I really think the shocks arent suited to the track, just from seeing the way my car handles compared to the other guys out there

Oh, I run at a medum to low grip parking lot track thats fairly technical with 140' straight.
Thanks Roy, it sounds like our tracks are pretty similar but mine sounds a bit grippier and with less straight. What tyres are you using? I find that the only corner my car likes is the left hand sweeper at the end of the straight which is high speed on trailing throttle, it then understeers into a left hairpin before drifting out of a right 90 degree corner. The rest of the lap is all understeer, 2 hairpins and a sweeper back onto the straight. I'm at full lock through the sweeper and the understeer compromises my speed onto the straight

I actually read an interesting article a few years back...it said,to get more steering, turn down the dual rate a touch....when you have the tires turned lock to lock, they will actually scrub in the corners without getting traction....no traction,no steering...

Good point. I was taught to have only enough steering to get around the tightest corner of the track.

astra,

I use 37 shore all round. I'll use 35's if I can get them. My LHS stocks mostly 40's and 42's for the permanent track. Not much nitro action at the parking lot races in the area, but I like the people there.

Have you tried running 1 degree toe out in the front? You can also disconnect you front sway bar. I don't run one.

Okay, after re reading your last post, it sounds like you need more on power steering. I have a great chart that I'll upload that will help. I just need to get to the office cause its not on my home computer.

Rapid Roy, does ultimate carry R40 parts? I was thinking of making a trip up there to stock up on parts, but its a long drive for me to come back empty handed. I mainly need spurs and pinions for the lightweight 2sp, I will be running mainly at SVM and need some taller gears.

well then, the only steering option you need is the ball bearings that came with the HARA kit...the metal upgrade kit is nice, but you have to do some shimming....I like the brake arm because it puts a ball cup at the pivot point onthe linkage, rather than slipping the linkage into the brake arm hole...and that eliminates the slop...

You can also try Tony's hobbies in West Covina. They are my secret supply shop when I can't find the part anywhere else. 626 917-5290
