Well today was pretty decent. The .12TR woke up with the .12 pipe indeed compared to that horrible .15 BB pipe. I'm currently out of dogbones for the car and tired of busting them so I'm not running it for Sunday...8th only. Next yr I'm going to swap to the Mugen mtx4 as well due to numerous reasons. Other than that, the car drove fairly nice, but I'm going back to the 2 spider diff instead of the 4.

No it's not a retarded question. There is no stupid question unless you're a pro and have a serious case of brain freeze. The spider gears in the rear are the two smaller ones. The Savage diff kit is basically what you use for the R40. The 4 keeps the car more planted in acceleration. I'm going to try again today weather permitting, but after this race my R40, tires, parts, OS .12tr, .15 pipe is going byby. The .12 THS pipe I'm saving for the MTX4. Believe it or not that THS pipe woke up that .12TR like no 2morrow. I was REALLY impressed. SO much for my LHS knowing that the .15 pipe "gives more power". BULLSHIT.

Sorry for the delay, haven't had time to peek in here lately. I'm not too sure where to get parts in your area. I am in the San Gabriel Valley and the shop I usually go to doesn't stock much at all. Tony's hobbies in West Covina usually has a good selection. You could always go to Ultimate in Orange. They have almost everything. I really haven't had to buy many parts for my cars. I don't get to race much and I bought 2 complete cars with enough extra parts to build 2 more. Parts like steering knuckles arms axles, I got 7 or 8 sets. Are you looking for anything in particular?

Hmm, are you pulling the pivot balls out of the steering knuckles? If so, you should replace the knuckles. You could also get aluminum knuckles. That would aleviate the problem.

True. I'd have to invest in stronger front cva's as well. However I'd have to buy a ton of parts just to be able to support myself as the tracks I run on don't have R40 parts nor does many people there race it. I would've been the 3rd R40 driver saturday, but the others didn't show up. I'd fairly well for it being my first race....and first regional event as I only cared about having fun.

We will racer at Floyd Bennett Field, Brooklyn, New York. 2 day Regional Trophy Race Saturday and Sunday Sept 30th and Oct. 1st

Saturday September 30 and Sunday Oct 1. This is the New York State Regionals - a 2 day race for Region 1. 1/10th and 1/8th Nitro On Road cars.

Race results were based on the qualifying from 4 heats on Saturday. Rain on Sunday cancelled further racing. This was the Region 1 results for 1/8 open 4WD and 1/10 Touring Car

It makes me think the car needs some work, but honestly I wan't to try something different now. A friend of mine will benefit from buying my ride so he will have a ton of spares when he goes to the track.

Do you run the stock 2 speed or the LW unit? I have many many parts for the stock 2 speed brand new. Which track do you run at?

Any of you guys seen this yet. The thread has been around for a while on the electric forum. Looks pretty cool.

This company will clone your personal transponder so all your cars can have the same number. They have a 3 for $65 each special right now too.

Thanks for the link rapid roy. Thats a great idea. I might get a clone or two. Ive been wanting to get another for my pro4 for racing but have been holding off do to the 80-90 price tag on a regular amb.

It is sad to see them priced so high.

I am thinking about converting my standard R40 to the Hara specs by purchasing these parts:

73925 SUPER CHASSIS (R40 HARA EDITION)
87241 RACING FUEL TANK 75cc (R40 HARA EDITION)
73110 UPPER DECK (R40 HARA EDITION)
73089 FRONT SHOCK TOWER A (WOVEN GRAPHITE)
73090 REAR SHOCK TOWER A (WOVEN GRAPHITE)
75067 ALUMINUM SERVO MOUNT (PURPLE)
38202 Aluminum Antenna Holder (Purple Anodized)

These parts are expensive and they are pretty hard to find. Is this a worthwhile upgrade? I read on HPI's site that the Hara chassis was designed for AAA batteries. Can I still use my current 5-cell flat pack with the Hara chassis?

all the parts are at horizon hobby....and hopping up your car depends...do you have the alloy shocks?..pr the LW 2 speed?..or the shafts?..if not,it might pay to sell your chassis and buy a new hara....

the battery is also different,,,,,,

I currently have the LW trans, the hollow shafts, and the steering bearings. My flat pack really will not fit? What kind of battery pack does the Hara chassis take? This could turn into a very expensive upgrade.
