hey guys,

I just finished building the whole car. I noticed there's alot of dragging, i have everything on the car including engine, gears...yes i checked if the brake is dragging but its not...you guys experience the same problem or is it a normal thing? Anybody running NS12S5, if so what's the factory setting on this engine, i couldn't find it in the manual.

Thanks

Default 1st batch gliches

Im sure there will be afew glitches since this is the 1st batch of R40's. Im sure by the time the 3rd batch of cars comes out, they will have all the kinks knocked out. The car looks like it has alot of potential for the racing scene.

Hi Guys,

Just want to let you guys know we got a few of the R40 in stock as well. This will be the first time we carry HPI race kits in our shop, and don't forget, this month you get $10 off on any purchase over $100, so it's a good time to pick up the car kit if you already been thinking about it

Make sure you don't have the belt tensioner too tight. You want it set so it guides the belt and not to the point where there is tension on the belt.

You mean that these adjustment shims stay on the car? You don't use them like, say. the track width setting tool on the NTC3?

haven't got it running let alone crashed it yet. But the shims do stay in. They are like castor clips on most TCs out there. You'd have to get pretty hard to pop one of those out.

For those with the kits... how does the flexibility of the plastic parts compare to other racing cars? Is there obvious flex as in the previous HPIs or very little or none like more of today's frontrunners.

I've never been in a hurry to buy a car, so I can afford to wait and see how this car pans out ( ) .
where exactly is the servo guard?...

I don't see it listed in my instructions....

I saw it in Front1wayFreaks picture of his car:

Here it is(sorry, but this is your car front1wayFreak). It is that brownish thing at the bottom of the picture. I think so at least. If it isn't, then I'm an idiot, and the HPI R40 may not be for me... because that is my main worry.

Default check your brakes

One of the last instructions is to place the brake cam in. When I placed it in and checked the functionality of the brakes, I discovered they did not work. The brake cam was able too spin all the way around. I placed a 2 X .2mm thick shims behind the top brake plate. And that was all that was needed to get the brakes to work.
You might want too check the functionality of your brakes before you completely put the rear end together. I would have liked to shim the bottom part of the brake plate as well.

Thx for the info guys...

I think HPI will come up with a beefy guard pretty soon...Looks like this servo guard is not strong enough, i could easily bend the plastic with my one finger.
