Another question - I see the pro drivers mentioning shock bladders, yet none seem to have come in my kit.. Are these just added by the drivers by preference? or is mine missing the bladders? Thanks

you need part number 33407 for the HPI aluminum clamp hubs for the R40. i dont think the savage aluminum hubs would fit, i would imagine they'd be larger than the sedan ones. the ones that may fit are the ones for electric tourers that is available through buy hpi.

yep, those are them. but i wonder if they are the same as 33407 they have listed in the Japan site under R40 options. because those ones pictured were originally for the RS4 series.

I just checked, mine are on solid white rims. The local hobby shop where I bought them has several sets of Fastires and they're all on solid white rims. Something weird is going on here

It is apparent that Fasttire is just filling the requests of other racers who have requested the aero solid rims.

Yeah, thats probably it. Take Offs did the same thing with their pre-mounted rubber tires. People wanted them on dish wheels, so they put them on them. I just hope Fasttire doesn't follow Take Offs lead and have the multispoke versions all but disappear.

Of course, I like the look of the HPI wheels, so I might just go to running those. Only down side is that it doesn't appear that they come with side wall protectors, and I have experienced how well the ones that come with fasttires work. So I like to use them whenever I can.

Default Lola body

Have any of you guys tried mounting a Lola style body on your R40 yet?

If so, how does it fit?

Did you need to have an extra set of body mounts that you could cut really low?

Does the front shock tower fit under the body, or did you have to make a hole for the tips of it to fit through?

I have a full cockpit lola body that I am mounting. It fits fine but the body post holes on the rear are farther back than on most of the other cars (hole in the mid part of the up-curve). One of the british HPI reps at the HPI Worlds was testing his car with a regular lola body and it fit fine but again, the rear body mount post hole had to be drilled farther back on the body. Hope that this helps, Darkseid.
