I heard kyosho or it might be another company , but a few of their kits you practically have to customize it to get it to fit and work freely.

Ill admit there are a few quirks on the R40 , but on a lot of other HPI cars their almost perfect , good instructions...allthough lacking in some areas , always come off to me somewhat easy to deal with. Along with the design.

If I were to jump the boat....and dare I say I ever would. I would go mtx4....

But like rossb said , I also need to focus on the driver. Im still new to racing and honing what little skills I have.

I came in at least 4th in my summer series novice class, my first year racing (more like 4 times X 3 (5min qualifiers). I probably could have gotten 1st in the series If I didnt goto the race with a new engine everytime , which each engine for some reason had its own weird quirky problem...lol.

Here is my first intricate / flame paint job. I used bob divelys liquid mask.

Ive been wanting to get a Hara Replica body, but figured I could do it myself. Im loving it , once its done its going to look almost exact. Im going to start doing more bodies like this and im going to snag an actual airbrush as well.

Welp got the R40 back up now officially with the Rody. I did ditch the stock crappy clutch and slapped on the Ofna CD3 Pro Centax. In order to make things run properly I needed to swap the HPI pinions to the Ofna clutchbell, and add a rubber O ring before screwing on 1st gear pinion so it protruded out far enough to come in contact with the 1st gear spur. So far things are setup great, fully function and I'll conduct a test sometime tomorrow to see how it runs. On the CD3 Pro it's REALLY punchy and hopefully it should be close on the R40. The drivetrain on the hpi is smoother though, however it should get up and moving very quick. The LW chassis will be going on soon and a vantage pipe though that may be an Xmas gift.

Thanks,

Here is pretty much the finished product.

AI Replica Stratus 3.1

The real thing.

I just walk around the house all day staring at it . Im probably going to make a few replicas of his bodies. There are many different versions of it, I chose this one as its what was actually on the R40. If the bodies were the same it would have been even closer. I also selected the stratus 3.1 as I hear it handles amazing.

Wow thats a nice job you've done there. Only thing its laking is a few more sponsors. Better get cracking at driving some you can fill up that white space on ur car

I wish i was good at painting...everybody else that have cars near me have some nice bodies. Thats why when i always show ppl my car i leave the body "back at home" by mistake...

Hey Regg I see your browsing the forums, how are ya man? I'm going to register my vehicle and all I have left is just to go get a parking space, pit table and go to the track . The Ofna centax really works great in the R40 and will be used for now on. The stock one was getting pretty worn and I even found parts RUSTING!!! .

I'm always lurking in the background. I took a break from the R40 to concentrate on racing my Savage. that and I just havent had the time to spend tuning and tweaking, just haven't had much time this past season.

Lurking...LOL . Where do ya race the sav at? Id like a buggy again, but need to get a better radio first. May end up buying the M11 Tx only and get the spektrum. Surely gonna cost a bit though. I need snow tires for my car first, winter blades, and some antifreeze.
