both made by sts, my r40 is a complete bang for buck setup. my intentions were to not spend much on any part of the car, hence the lack of light weight parts but to do free stuff like set it up to the best of my ability and drive the wheels off it! and reduce weigh by other means other than spending loads on titanium and carbon bits.
its pretty fun to see people having a hard time keeping up with me at my club when my whole car, engine and electrics cost less than there single nova race engine

If you do ever get anything. The most worthwhile parts are the cf towers and superchassis. Along with a lw battery, I think even the 2spd shaft doesnt cost much.

Id also look into the new hara edition shocks.

yeah i made my own lightweight pack up, and just fitted a mighty mini servo for throttle and break. I fancy the hara shocks just for the fact they look cool, but there so expensive lol
The main port of call is to reduce the weight of all the rotating components such as the middle and main shafts and probably a one way.

yeah me to, even at a few regional events people are like what make is it, derrrr. theres still a lot of people out there that dont even know hpi make a 10th scale pro nitro car. I have to admit though i was one.

Greg, heres the sts engine thread, there engines are cheap, but they proved to me they can go like stink!! and the help and support you get is phenomenal. more than I can say about a few other rc companies, mentioning no names "cough ko propo cough cough".

Hello Folks,
I'm looking to get a new engine. I would llike to get a Competitive engine for around $250. My R40 has Front 1 way and lw shafts. I currently have a Sirio.12trp. Forgot to mention that I have great control of the car.
these are my options (you can add to the list)

1. Novarossi NSR12s5
2. Sirio Evo 3
3. STS D54
4. ?

What do you guyds think.

Consider these:

1. RB V12 5 port - 249 from acehardwarehobbies.com Awesome engine.
2. OS 12 TZ 5 port - around 209 pretty much everywhere

Only get the 5 port if you don't care about being legal. If you do need to be ROAR legal, get the 3 port versions, and they'll be a little bit cheaper. Not by much though.

I take back what I said.
I may want to race @ my local track. Will an .18 fit in a R40 or can .12, .15 and .18 fit into the same size crank case.

If Klanderman managed to shoe horn a side exhaust .18 cv-r into his racer 2 I'm sure anything is possible. how are you getting on with that beast of a car Klanderman anyway??

All 3 displacement motors use the same size crank case.
