Did you buy Mugen bearings or just an equivalent? If other, what sizes will I need? I'm going to try it out soon!

Thanks
I bought an entire Mugen clutch. You can use everything except the flywheel. The bearings are like 10x5 or around there from memory I will need to check it exactly. The JP clutchbell is a bolt on replacement for the stock mugen one.

Artificial I had the same problem with the shoes being a bit open and rubbing against the chamber. I just screwed down the middle screws that hold the BB's and left a small amount of play, then I screwed in the springs all the way into the brass bushing. The instructions make no sense so I went with my own instinct. If left the way the instructions say, you get a huge gap between shows and the whole set up will not fit into the two speed chamber.

I did back the screws out slightly but now I need to test the shifting point.

Anyone else has input on this LW two speed set up?

I have 3 HPI Racer shirts left over from the HPI club we formed here. Unfortunately the club no longer exists.

Thought I would see if anyone on this thread wanted to pick these up. They are custom one off shirts we made just for the few guys in the club.

1 Blue size L
1 Grey size L
1 Black size M

$10.50 each shipped

PM or email me if you are interested.

thanks.

I actually have those and the hubs. They came with my 2004 kit. To make up for the missing wheels and hex hubs.

They also come with delrin screws. I might give them a go.

Has anyone tried putting a side exhausted engine in their R40's????

If so, what header did you use and do you have any pics???

I got a really good deal on a HPI engine, but didn't realize it was a side exhaust, so I'm still curious if I can use it or not...

If not, its off to ebay

It can be done. Somebody here did it many pages back. You are going to have to fish through using the search function.

Has anyone tried putting greenslime in the diff o-rings? I searched and couldnt find anything on that.

It seems no grease or anything is called for in the instructions.

Now you've gone and spilled the secret.

Just kidding, green slime is a good idea. The instructions don't list lots of things that we do to make the cars work perfectly. Every little bit helps

Just an update on the 2004 edition build.

So far this car looks amazing! Not one spec of purple on it yet either. Nothing but black everywhere and grey. Also some of the lightweight parts I got are pretty amazing. Ill have all the stats up once im done, but you guys will be pretty amazed at how much you can save on a few extra parts I found.

Lets just say the brake disc weighs around 8 , gpm ti 4. Thats essentially like getting another half of the lw shaft reduced. Not only that its a large spinning weight not a nice compact shaft, so removing 4 grams off the shaft like that ought to have a major effect on performance. Cant wait to drive this thing.

I second that. I do a TON of little things to my cars that just add a little bit of an edge to the car.
