Next race, I'm going up the day before so I can dial the R40 in. Want to meet?

I'm also bringing the Mugen, but I'll put the new engine into the R40 and see how it goes.

As always, great running with you Dave.

I have found that these help on a parking lot track:

1) remove sway bar ( most parking lot tracks don't provide great traction )
2) Use lots of chassis roll ( to get the weight shifted for max traction )
3) typically firm springs onthe front ( once again b/c of the lack of rear bite ).
4) ride height - typically 6mm starting (F&R); depends on how bumpy the surface is.
5) rear diff - no oil, just light dab of grease ( you want a loose rear diff. )
6) either spool or heavy (50,000 - 70,000) diff oil in front)

Soft rear springs, 2-3 deg rear toe in and 2 - 3 degrees REAR Camber.

That's my thougts anyway... good luck!

Well you really don't have to take your rear sway bar off. I put gold springs on my rear shocks and layed them down. Then put the soft sway bar on and went to 2dergrees of rear toe in. I left the front alone accept for I put it to the maximum caster.

I dont have my exact setup but at the track I race on I use

Front
stock caster
-.5 camber
1 deg. toe-in
associated red springs
40wt. oil
upper mount in shock tower

rear
black sway-bay
3 deg. toe-in
-1 deg. camber
use the 2 deg. lower suspension blocks
shocks mounted in inner most hole
associated copper springs
30wt. oil

I think that is close. It might be harder to drive in the first heat but as the day goes by and the track gets more traction the car will come to you

sounds like either the clutch or the gear mesh.
I've had a couple dinged up pinions and spurs that would roll perfect forward but would bind in reverse..

hi, i just bought the r40 and am in the process of putting it together. i have not got the rear shocks on, but the rear A arms do not go up or down. they seem to be stuck in one place. my question is: is this normal or have i got the sway bar setup wrong, or possibly something else. thanks

they should move up and down.. maybe the set screws in the arms are in too far?

I had the same problem. With mine, the caster spacers that go on the hinge pins were too tight causing the binding. I had to sand down a couple of the 2mm spacers to 1.5mm because the 1mm spacer was too loose.

Also make sure your pivot balls arn't too tight.

I'm sort of having the same problem, well in that the pinion and spur gear mesh is very noisy, pretty free and the mesh looks good on both 1st and 2nd but just annoyingly rattly. I'm used to my whisper quite electric losi's. Is this just due to the large circular pitch of the gears?

Cheers

Foward it is very quiet but will not roll backwards. The mesh is good and I know the one way bearing isn't seized. Its something up with the clutch I just can't figure it out. Also I can't seem to set my middle belt tension right. With a new belt where should I set the tensioniser. I know my belts used to last for ever with the tensioniser set all the way down. But now I can't keep a belt for beans The car would throw it after a while. Also the new belt I brought must have been the wrong one because when I put it on without the tensioniser it was very loose for a new belt. I had belts on my impluse that I never used a tensionser on and it stayed tight. Dang I really need some help .
