Last race season 2004, I put in the lght wght 2-speed and hollow shafts and they were OK. But when I replaced the plastic shocks with a set of Alums. from my Proceed, that R-40 was a stuck monkey. It would go anywhere - do anything car, just give it the gas.

Most of the track's I ran at were pretty high bite. I think it was as. 60 wt up front and as. 50 wght. in the rear.

I had a couple of sets of the plastic body shocks that I put together and tryed some different set ups, but the car was just not there. I had to drive the car to hard and it was not smooth. The car did not take a set into the corner very well is the best way to put it.

The Alum. shocks were magic on my car. Really felt like a new car. I think I almost smiled.

HPI - R40 race history question.
Hara and the R-40 won the ROAR sedan Nationals in CA 2003, it and Hara also won the Japan sedan Nationals in 2003. Last year, Hara and the R-40 again won the 2004 ROAR sedan Nationals in OH.
I know Hara and I do not believe anyone from the HPI factory team attended the IFMAR 1/10th nitro Sedan worlds last fall in Brazil.

Hara had just raced the two Ifmar on-road elct. worlds in FL the two weeks previous to the Brazil race.

Maybe some people have their limit on how many days of racing they can handle in a row.
Yup its the same shock from the proceed. Im going to convert a few myself for my r40. Also do you know hara?

What about this year is there any plan for hpi drivers to go for the worlds?

Well said - vones. I don't think anyone is going to put out a crap car.

OMG, I am finally done with my freakin' clutch bell! I spend the last three days going from LHS to LHS just trying to find the right shims! I am done with side port, standard shaft engines after this one! I will start breaking in today and I hope to run for the first time tomorrow! Can't wait!

I guess everyone has an opinion, but when it comes to the R-40 I believe it's an awesome car. Maybe this year we can win a world championship, who knows I think it's more like Vones said it takes a lot of things to make or have a winning car... Nicely said Vones...

I do not quote - quote know Hara. I have tried to talk with him a couple of times at races and got the idea, that he did not understand my Ohio english. So no, I do not personally know him.

Last year 2004 was the first year for the IFMAR nitro Sedan Worlds. That was the first and so far only race. It was held in Brazil. The track was very different from normal, not real any better or worse. Just different.

Many racers from Japan went to the Pre worlds for this race and did not return a few months later for the actual Worlds race its self.

The IFMAR Worlds are run every other year for all RC classes. This year, 2005 has no nitro Sedan Worlds race. I believe, that the next Sedan Worlds race will be down under in 2006. This year will be the 1/8th IFMAR worlds and is set to be held in Sicily. Sorry about the spelling.

For really good RC videos, use your search engine and find Ray Woods videos. He has 4 to 7 really good DVD's of the 1/8th on-road and 235mm Worlds races. Also some from other big races.

Very cool, now I dont have to send it back.

Well I am about to order the R40 from tower, while I am there, what else should I order to make a nice starter package for racing this season? I am going to wait on things like the light chassis etc until I break her in and get some exp on the track.

How is the kit to build? And what is a good engine/pipe combo to get that is easy to start and holds tune. I need something ROAR legal .12 size.

Thanks in advance
