Removing the shims will increase your compression. The only time you need to do this is when running different percentages of nitro.

mmm I've been switching back and forth from 15% to 25% depending of wht the store has... I think I'll be doing some experimenting with the shims. Do you think if I use 25% and take a shim off, will I gain more acceleration, speed or how does that work? maybe I shoud just leave it and use only 25% ...

Im having trouble putting my flywheel on my old motor. when i try to screw down the thing that holds the flywheel down all it does is turn the motor. The motor is a OS TR how can I hold the piston in place without damaging it?

Well this is what I do, I hope you have a round port engine...
I have a piston locking device that screws as if you where screwing the glowplug, so I start by doind that, but through the round port I place some cloth or a piece of T-shirt, so that the piston locking device isn't directly over the piston. That should hold the piston down, so you can tighten it right...

i dun think that piston locking will work if the engine is using turbo plug because normal piston locking will be only used in normal plug.

ok here's an easy way to do this without the piston locking tool.

1. make sure glow plug is installed and tight.
2. rotate engine leaving the exhaust port open.
3. holding engine upside down (heat sink down) fill with after run oil.
4. don't over do it you need just enough to hydrolock the piston not start an oil slick.
5. now crank down on the flywheel nut the oil will hold the piston stopping the engine from turning over.
6. now that it's tight remove the glow plug and drain the oil. OR simply reverse direction on the crank and drain via the exhaust port.

I've been using this method for years with no problems.
