Talking Got mine today!

This is my first nitro. Do I want the transmission to be as free wheeling as possible?, or am I to expect a little resistance? I used to drive an electric TC3, so it's been a while since I've wrenched on anything with a belt.

I'm going to be fitting in a .12 Nitro Star side exhaust, threaded shaft in it. Any tips for that guy would also be appreciated. It seems to have lightweight everything on it.

I believe side exhaust won't work. Rear exhaust engines fit only.

side exhaust may work providing you could find a header that would fit. it's just much easier to just get a rear exhaust engine since that is whatt the car was designed for in the first place.

but if you can get it to fit i'd love to see it.

Hark you've got PM

If you're looking for something affordable with some power, might I suggest the STS, or maybe the RD Logics Richey engine.
The wasp engine might not be recognized too much, yet it is well balanced and kicks butt. I would definately recommend it for racing because on my R-40 it kicks butt... I even race against serpents with OS .18tz engines and I hang in there with no problem at all... Try it it is worth it....

Since this is your first nitro car these are some hop ups to think about:
LW chassis
LW 2 speed tranny
Graphite shock arms F/R
LW shafts Front/ 2 speed shaft
graphite rear brace
graphite steering brace

You can find them both at towerhobbies the LW chassis is $75 USD and the LW 2 speed is around $57 USD I beleive. The chassis is 20 grams lighter and the LW 2 speed has a little more top end...
rcmart also has the LW 2 speed a bit cheaper...

I got it regg.

The LW 2speed w/shafts also drops quite a bit off the drivetrain. It allows the engine to spool up faster and run quicker with less weight. It's awesome! I'm gonna probably check out the chassis, graphite shock towers, and other braces.

If you mean this one:

http://www.rcmart.com/catalog/produc...ducts_id=10759

then yes it is.

Remember that HPI sells a conversion kit to 2004 specs part 33413 which you can get from Japanese shops and it is much cheaper than buying the parts seperately.

It should run less than $180.
