If you get the 2004 kit you do not need to buy any additional parts in my opinion, my new 2004 kit is almost stock. I have added a few custom touches here or there that I can outline if you are interested.

Indeed I would be very interested, best to purchase all these items together, and have spares to compensate for my current lack of driving finess.

BTW RC mart and rc model state the Sirio at 280g and the novas at 400-450g, is this possible???

My LHS is offering a Team Orion Wasp at a very affordable price, do (any of) you have any past experiences with this engine?

I had the .12 WASP when I bought my R40 . It came with my half way built R40 kit I bought off some guy. It's easy to tune and start up. It doesn't give you any problems. But I don't really like it, not much power compared to my STS D3R or D5R. In my opinion, it doesn't really give you the most bang for the buck.

If you're looking for something affordable with some power, might I suggest the STS, or maybe the RD Logics Richey engine.

I think most everybody uses the stock clutch. Some use the Mugen shoes and spring for more bite though. The instructions leave a bit to be desired when adjusting the clutch though. As long as you get the end play down to almost nothing the clutch works perfectly.

hey guys,
What oil/grease do you all use for your thrust bearing? Finally got my duratrax starterbox. It has enough power to turn over the sirio.
Thanks

I just use a light dab of 3-in-1 oil for the clutch thrust bearing. Since I sometimes use denatured alchohol for my clean-up I typically follow it up with a light application.

3 in one, is that like marvel mystery oil? Can I use a diff oil even? It would be nice and thick so it wont get flown off of the bearing at high speeds. Am I correct?
Thanks,
Don

Im thinking of ordering a 2004 edition R40 from rcmart. Has anyone from the U.S. ordered from there recently? How is the shipping? Are they reliable? Can you get shipping insurance? Is there anyone else selling this version of the R40?

I think you answerd your own question it's 40 deg the ground is cold the foams are nearly frozen wait till you get temps at least around 60 - 65 on a very sunny day, I belive that will help your spinouts quite a bit.

Hey Reg where in NY are ya?

Chad-he's right. Foams wont work best when its cold out. However I ran my R40 when it was around mid 40s-50s and it handled quite well. What was your suspension setup?
