Nitroracer 20: Go to www.rcmart.com and you will find lots of hop ups for the R-40. Once you are in, go to parts, then GP kits.... soon you will on the leftside of your screen a list of kits, select the R-40. Then go to three racing... They have the steering brace, the F/R graphite shock towers and many other hops, but those are the ones I got, Then go to GPM they have the titanium shafts for the front and the 2 speed one. Later check out HPI, they have the 2 speed tranny $10 dollars cheaper, so good luck and let me know if you found what you where looking for. Everything is at rcmart.
Later!

Default STOCK vrs. MODIFIED weight reduction!!!!

STOCK PARTS
Stock Aluminum front shock tower 12grams
Stock aluminum rear shock tower 12 grams
stock aluminum side belt brace 8 grams
Stock front shaft 14 grams
Stock aluminum 2 speed shaft 24 grams
aluminum front diff case 60 grams
aluminum steering brace 4 grams
TOTAL 134 grams
MODIFIED PARTS
graphite front shock tower 6 grams
graphite rear shock tower 6 grams
graphite side belt brace 4 grams
titanium front shaft 8 grams
Titanium 2 speed shaft 14 grams
aluminum frontone way 36 grams
graphite steering brace 2 grams
TOTAL 76 grams

The difference is 58 grams, but since the rear shock tower comes with body posts, you can shave of another 10 grams because you won't need the original rear body post tower. total 68 grams off. with the LW chassis another 20, so it's worth it!!!

So far, these are all worth it, still need the .8 tranny and the LW chassis

Cool. Just remember how the car will handle with all the LW parts. I take it little by little. So far I ran the MT12 with the upgrades and I noticed a big difference.

I was running mine 8mm all around, but now I'm running it 5mm in the front and 5 1/2mm in the rear. It handles better, i think, but I guess it all depends on driving skills

Naw I just used the stock guage height thingy with the R40. I can lower it though, but hey it handles fine. They even run 8th scales with 6-7Mm ride height sometimes and it works fine.

Hey Guys!

I have just finished reading the "Whole" R40 thread

Once you get through all the fighting, there is a heap of very useful information. I do however have a silly question though

In the 2004 spec kit, it talks about "Steering Upgrade", am i right in assuming this is bearings through the steering rack? Does it include the C/F steering plate?

I plan to have some practice with the R40 tomorrow to see if i have over come these teething problems. I will keep everyone posted and as long as i don't have steering issues like i did with the G4 all will be good

AMGRacer:

Reading throught the thread you have been a very busy person. You have soon become the equal of InitalD/ 710 thread, the Manticore/MTX3 thread etc Keep up the good work... Don't forget about your lovely wife and the dog
