You might try going down one tooth each on the pinions. 100feet is pretty short. I run on a fairly technical track and will be gearing down 1st gear for the next race and leaving 2nd gear stock. Our straight is 150' or so.

I just bought the pinion gears 17T and 20T for my R40, but I think I should have played with just the first gear. The straight is about 150Ft, I guess I'll try this configuration and let you know if the car is faster, but slower on the starts...

I found the R40 LW chasis at towerhobbies, but it's like $75.00. Does anyone know where I can buy it cheaper?
Let me know...

Looks like I may get into 8th scale onroad with help from a friend. Therefore I'm trying to get a lot of stuff sold, including the R40 possibly.

Did some rethinking and checking out my budget. I can afford the 8th, but it will have to be bought at a much later date. However, I can afford to race the R40 and bash the MGT. Therefore to enjoy 8ths feeling, I'll run wider tires in the rear and get the GTP lola body for the R40 instead. Won't handle like one, but looks like a minature version basically. New engine to come is a Sirio Evo 2 and Novarossi pipe.

Anybody have experience getting a sirio into the R40? I bought a world champ replica EVO 2 and it seems to me it is impossible to get the motor in without removing the handle, and clearancing the fuel tank (cutting it). Anybody offer some advice?

I heard of people getting the Sirio Evo 2 in the R40 with no problem, but nothing on the W.C. version.

There is a guy that runs in the state series with a MTX-3 5port lola body in the 835 and runs in the top 5

I thought it was always a problem regardless of which engine you use on the R40? I know some guys who runs Novarossi engines and still require to take out the handle to be able to access the engine...

Nope I have had JP, Novarossi, RB and STS all in there no problems. Just twist the carb slightly. This sirio is a bear.

What 5 port engine? I don't recall any rules at floyd, but I'll try to buy spare stuff for the car and run the car the car with upgrades.

Default S3050

Guys,

Anybody have used a Futaba Digital S3050 servo? Just wonderin' if this will be enough for my R40's steering needs.
It has 6.5kg-cm or 90.2oz.-in. of torque and speed of .16 sec.

Thanks

I reckon the hitec 625MG. .15sec at 94oz of torque. Works really good for my cars.

I have some upgrades hopefully coming in to the LHS and was wondering which one of these are beneficial.

One way diff ( I hate the way the stock diff leaks no matter what you do)

Solid rear axle- The track I'm gonna race at is fairly large not to mention where I bash at so I'll give it a try

.8module gears- This was said to improve top speed due to the pitch although the weight difference wouldnt matter.

lightwght 2speed shafts- Definately want my ride to do less work so this will help

After that, I'll think about what new engine I will change do if I go about that route. It's Sirio Evo II vs Ns12. Price vs price, power vs power, reliablity vs reliability.

Im having problems with the rear of my r40. It seams that is too loose and I can't control it anymore please help me on the set up!!! Its height is about 8mm front and rear, 2 degrees camber an 2 degrees toe in the rear I recon... should I lower the CG?
Should I get a solid rear diff? I already ordered the LW shafts, the shock towersand the fron one way diff, so it should work better this weekend...
