Awesome stuff, thanks for the report.

Do you know if they were using the graphite suspension and the alternate rear swaybar mounting point?

Yeah I saw you in the challenge report, nice work man!

The good thing about the result is that it shows that the HPI R40 has the potential to match it with the big guys (we already knew that tho). Not many people here or in Asia seems to really be interetested in the R40, even thought it is a good value and competitive package in my opinion! Alot of people say Hara can win with anything, but thats BS at that level if your car is not high level you cant match it up.

Very similar case when HPI PROCEED released and against the Vector and Mugen............great car, but lack of support from HPI themselves.....

Hara's setup is very similar to last years with the exception of 42 F/R tires, #4 rear shock piston, and stock front springs. Oil was 60 F 50 R. Gearing was 60/22, 52/28.
Thanks for the insight. My information came from one of our locals that raced...but then again....he was driving a Mugen, LMAO!!!!

Do you know what tires he was running?

Yes they were but not the rear hub carriers b/c Hara said they bound up on his car, so he just didn't put them on. I thought they were using the optional location, they were also using a one-piece engine mount, titanium pivot balls, and the aluminum rear hinge pin carriers in the stock position.

Those hubs are the worst...I bought sets of graphite arms from HK....I absolutely could not get any of them to work smoothly....

if you put the pivot balls in exactly the same length, they are fine,,,,once you set the rear toe in,they bind.....

on the other hand, the rear arms are great...........NO flex in the suspension,,,,,,,and they are extremely strong.....

Hpitilidie will be the next screen name for me.
I'm very interested to see Hara's detailed set up on hpi's website.
Way to go Hara!

I agree that the graphite hubs isn't the best. My issue isn't with the pivot balls but it's where the bearings fit into. The fit is too tight causing the bearing to bind and feel gritty.

That’s the 03 nats setup. We will probable have the 04 setup on the site sometime this week. You’ll be surprised at how similar the setups are. It’s basically the same.

It will be interesting to see this setup. How is the condition of the track? I heard it is very high grip, and some cars were traction rolling?

Congrats on the win. Remember, races are won in the pits

Now, I wonder if HPI and the R40 will get some respect from the other manufacturers and their racers. I just wish that the other manufacturers and drivers will stop when the R40 and Hara wins events.

Thanks! I'm guessing the front springs and tire shores are different.

Only if you are riding those 2004 spec R40...................my stock R40 (with 1.0 gear box and just couple options with 1900 gram of weight) is just not fast enough to catch those 710 and MTX3 and NTC3 on the straight....

This winter, I think I will invest onto the R40 spec.........or simply BUY a 2004 spec and sell my old R40...

Can someone give me a update where else can I get 2004 spec overseas now....? Still Jet Hobby and Rcmodel in HK? Thanks...
