i havent had any problems with the r40's plastic or durability in 5 or 6 races i have only broke 1 knuckle

in fact i lost control this past race (due to low battery) and broke the axle off where the wheel nut goes right off flush with the hex but no damage to the plastic

ive broken more metal parts like a universal an axle and the pivot balls bent but only 1 plastic knuckle

Default R40 parts

I just purchased an R40 last week, but am having problems finding upgrade parts for it. Does anyone know what So. Cal. stores carries parts... or what websites I can purchase from? Thanks.

There don't seem to be too many online vendors with lots of R40 parts, but most probably do carry them.

I just ordered a bunch from Tower Hobbies. Just do a search for R40 and you will get a nice list of parts. They carry most of the common HPI parts and a few others. EBay and Dinball also have lots of upgrade R40 Parts.

Cheers!
Chris

the best place for aftermarket non-hpi upgrades is dinball rc mart www.rcmart.com, i have ordered from then a couple of times, they are good, but unless you want to spend a lot of money on shipping, it can take up to 16 days to get your things

I just installed the 2004 conversion parts and the graphite arms. Now my car weighs in at 1726g with body, engine and tires ready to run. I am pretty happy.

Also the 0.8 module gearbox is much much better. The 2 speed shoes are a proper size rather than the huge things that are with the stock kit.

Built In Tank Filter Sufficient?

Hey guys I was wondering if the built in tank filter is okay. I ran my car without an external fuel filter for about 10 tanks on my street. I was wondering if the built in one inside the tank is okay for now?

I'm going to get a Dubro one this weekend.

Where did you source your parts at? I've been looking for the conversion pieces.

Thanks,
Chris

I never ran with any additional filters besides
the one in the tank and had no problems so
far.
I'm almost done installing the upgrade kit.
The only delay is finding pinions and spurs
to purchase so I probably wont race until I
find them. The gears on the 2-speed is way
too tall for the tight track I race on. On paper
I'm very pleased with the top speed . Just
what I'd been waiting for. Now I can race on
large tracks.

AMG, your car is pretty light. Did you remove the radio
and battery box?
