Does anyone know what shore tires the R40 comes with. I am trying to match them up with something on the market.

If I'm wrong, then, well shoot me for it.
HPI's engines are made FOR them..it says that right on their web site....(look where they intro the new RE engine)..

from the looks of the SS engine,it looks like the same company taht does the fantoms, tamiyas, and motors...

Interesting.

Would they control any part of the design or manufacture of these engines?

I'm sure they do.......

alot of companys sub out work..they just change the specs to their needs....

Same thing with tires......very few companys go through the trouble of moulding their own...they DO however come up with different compounds, and get them made..

Well, then I'd still call that an HPI engine, because it isn't like any other engine (similar, but not the same). That makes things simple... dodgy when you can't figure out the maker of an engine. Kind of like Epic motors (electric of course), they're made by Epic, but their still 'Trinity' motors in the US.

The HPI engine is made for them by a well known asian engine builder. You can tell which one very easily by eyeballing them

Yes, i work in a hobby shop. I was also suprised when the kits arrived. Am currently helping a customer setup the car.
Car looks good so far, but could do with a some dieting and a better chassis.

I really don't understand why they are selling 2 versions when everyone would prefer the higher spec one anyway.
This meant to be a full race, not RS4nitro 3
