Default Does anyone make an Engine Dyno ?

Me and a buddy have several engines and are thinking about trying to get some type of dyno to gage them.

Does anyone make an engine dyno for .12 engines?

RC Car Action has an engine dyno... I don't know where they got it, or who makes it.

The last time that I checked, there was a company making brake dynos, that would work with our smaller motors, that were verry expensive I cant remember what I was quoted, but I want to say it was over $6,000.

If would seem that some company could make one for the average Racer.

With Nitro Touring getting more and more competitive, this will be the edge at some point.

"land and Sea dynos" makes them but they are very expensive... http://www.land-and-sea.com/... they have them pictured in their brochure but I think they are a special order item.

I dont think it will ever happen. The dyno's are just too dangerous to be selling to the average Joe Bloggs of the street. Motorman or any other engine guru should be able to confirm that the size of a weight required for emulating the weight of the car is not the easiest to produce and at the high revs of the engine it can and most likely will shatter and destroy all round it. To operate a dyno safely you need a specially designed room which will shield you from this occurance and unfortunately the average Joe Blogg would just ignore this fact or couldnt afford to build such a work area and would just get himself killed.

The costs also would be high and with the costs of racing competitively now-a-days anyway the integration of dynos into a average racers list of necessities would certainly kill the hobby off completely as what happened with 235mm and also nearly killed 1:8th on-road.

Fantom is working on a inertia style flywheel dyno. Dont know when it will be done and how much it will cost, but they are working on one.

Tell that to any east or west coast big time oval guy. Watch for bullits.

They only become innacurate when you start turing right. The solution is simple, Oval. Then you'll have the most accurate dyno out there.
