See photo.
I have found there is plenty of mainshaft endplay adjustment by simply moveing the 2nd gear shoeholder on its setscrew/slot location on the mainshaft, and tighten the set screw when the desired endplay amount is achieved. A little patience and trial and error is all thats necessary.

I hope this makes sense and helps.

Nova are you sure you used the right plastic spacer on the pulley side of the gearbox shaft? The kit comes with 2 and you need to use the long one.

I think I put the wrong one on once back in the day.

Ive never seen any kyosho with 3-4mm play in the gearbox shaft. Some of my cars ive actually had to sand the spacer down.

I would check that. Or take a photo of that side of the car for us to take a look at.

Does anyone know where I can get the new 2nd gears from? 55C and 56C?

Thanks Andrew, yep I incorrectly put the smaller spacer on first, but then changed it to the longer one.

What is the difference in gears? I bought about 20 different spur gears (not sure if they are "C"), I can give you them to you on Sunday if you need them before the Nats, and you can replace them later on.

Thanks mate. The 55B and 56B are the old ones with the aluminum inside. The 55C and 56C are the new evo2 ones with steel inside.

Ive got heaps of the B gears but if you have the C gears that would be great if I could get some off you.

Cheers mate.

So is the gearbox play ok now with the right spacer?

Yep, just confirmed I have the following (new in packets):

2 x VZ114-55C 2nd Spur Gear 55T
1 x VZ114-56C 2nd Spur Gear 56T

I take it there the ones your after. You can have all 3 on Sunday, just replace them for me.

I just shimmed up the gearbox to remove the play. Will start it up and test it for the first time tomorrow so lets wait and see....

That would be awesome.

Your gearbox will be fine. I always run a little play in mine to compensate for heat buildup. If you run it to tight when it heats up it might bind.

I was told it has a lower cg & a quicker side to side weight transfer

and has anyone tested how much it will improve your laptime? sorry, no offense to anyone but since the laydown servo (which was claimed to lower CG) was changed back to standup servo, i always have the thought that the whole CG issue is a gimmick... i'm talking about the few mm difference in the height of the servo/fuel tank and not the CG issue in general (e.g putting ur engine as low as possible etc).

From the pic's on RED RC it looks like the steering servo would still lay down. Maybe I am missing something. Does anyone have any Pic's showing the difference between the lay down and stand up servo's? I am planning on buying this car for next season so all of this information is of great interest to me.

Thanks!
