I just bought the Vone RRR, on ebay, new, but I don't know whether it is a version one or two, how do I tell by looking at the car. If its a one where do I get the parts that were listed above?

One other question, how would the NovaRossi 12-5sct .12 5 port work in this the VOne RRR. I know it's a general question, but would it be better or on par with the SirioXXX and or the Picco engines?

If you purchased the kit new, what is the part number on the box? Should be a 5 digit number starting with 312. If you cant find that, post a picture of the chassis.

Any of the engines you listed will work fine in the car. If you are doing any organized racing, the 5 port Novarossi engine may not be legal.

the evo2 has no brace in the front cut out of the chassis

the evo does. there is a () shape in the front, or a (-) type of shape between the front bulkheads.

I guess I got an EVO. Still a great deal, purchased it on Ebay basically all built, with a Sirio EVO4 engine, brand new, including the pipe. I will use that engine on my Team Magic car. It was built nice and clean and the whole deal including the engine was $450, complete chassis kit, engine, pipe and servos, though I will put better ones in, when I finish it. I need to build the Throttle/ brake linkage and put the clutch gears and clutch on the engine.

Before I do I was trying to decide on the engine.

Why would the Nova be illegal? Can I find the rules someplace? Sorry but I'm new at this.

Because its a 5port engine most rules only allow the use of 3port engines

thankfully most 5 ports suck, so no club will really give you a problem for running it. like mentioned above, most rules only allow a 3 port so all of the racing development goes into the 3 port engines so they are usually faster. ports does not equal speed although size can but the .15's that are available also suck compared to race ready 12's from all of the brands.

that sirio evo 4 is no joke, thats a good engine. you don't need to spend over $200 to have a fast car today.

You guys have really helped. I will keep the Sirio Evo4 and the current car without upgrading it to the EVO2. I am new at this and the car is probably much better than I am. When I can drive this to the limit and set it up to the optimum, then I will worry about the next step.
Thanks again

how do you guys set the braking?

I run a front spool, and set my brakes to barely lock on the slower corners but I have one high speed straight that I need fairly heavy brake (for me) going into but I trail the brake 1/4 through that sweeper.

Basically entering pit lane, my car has almost no brakes and my pit man has to catch it. I've run my 8th scale without brake pads even in the car on the same track (the pads actually broke off the screws) so the turn should be used as much as possible to scrub speed.

Hope this helps, you also need to learn brake modulation just as well as throttle. I'd suggest running electric for a while to really get the feel of the radio down.

Default Front diff + TCD Gears

Hi guys a couple of months ago i asked for what parts i need in order to run a front diff setup. They gave me some product codes ordered them but couldn't fit it for more a couple of problems. So i assume they gave me the wrong part numbers. I will try and search for the product codes they gave me, in the mean time can some one that did run a front diff on an Evo 2 be so kind and advise what parts i need. Also i thought of trying a TCD diff on the front as i once used this setup on my front STRR diff and helped me a lot in tight tracks. By the way our onroad track where we race is very tight. What do you suggest?

I myself had the wrong part #'s from this thread one time and could have repeated them but I didn't have a diff at the time to know if they were right or not. I wish I knew what parts made the front diff, I was able to make one out of everything I had but I have no idea how to do it again. I looked in the v-one-r manual which had the wrong #'s, apparently they changed the pulleys somewhere in the middle. Take a look at all the manuals and you will be able to find the one that has a top deck and front bulkheads that fit the rrr evo and it will be that diff.

Some drivers like diffs, some like spools and some like oneways on every track they ever run on. I built the diff and hated it so I still only run a spool on every track.
