If i can pick this engine up for $160 brand new, Is it worth it? The specs to me look pretty good. I'd be using it for on-road racing. If thers another engine under $250 tell me. And please dont suggest the JL Red Dot if u dont have one.

Some more info about this engine would also be nice.

for the price, its does look like a good deal. If you only plan on running club racing, you will be ok, but if you plan on running any events, you need to have a 3 port engine. The 5 port engines can be a little harder to tune sometimes from what i have heard. If you are Ok with the above, go for it....but if you are looking to run anything that is higher than club racing, most require the 3 port engine.....

If it needs to be a 3-port engine you can make it 3 poort by just grinding away a piece of the sleeve between the 2 side ports. This is done a lot by people comming up with 5 ports engines when the rules say 3 ports.
The quality of an answer comes with the quality of the question.

I have a few of RS12S5 version of that motor. They are extrememly powerful and I highly don't recomend this motor for small to medium tracks. I would not get this motor just because of the price. Look at a good small 12 three port like the NS12S3R that are still around for the same price as that S5. That is if you want Novarossi. Otherwise get a Plus 12.

Just my .02 cents

I have ran the 3 port NS12S3 its great for club races and smaller tracks. Smooth powerband and great on fuel. You can make more than 5 min easy. However like most of the guys have said before go after a bigger nova. Rc-mushroom has a great price on the Nova 12 plus it meets you requirments.
Either go Fast or go Home.
