Default Associated NTC3

Hi guys, I have had a 720 and now I have a 4R and am familiar with the performance capabilities of these cars. I bought my son a NTC3 RTR but haven't taken it to the track yet but will soon. I know that as soon as he drives the car on the track he is going to want to start upgrading the car. My question is, assuming a dialed 720 or a 4R rates a 10 in performance, what would a completely hopped up NTC3 rate in comparison to 10? Also, what would the bone stock RTR rate in comparison? Not sure if I want to start upgrading the car or just let him beat in into the ground and then get him another car when he fines tunes his driving.

If a 720 / 4R rates a 10, then a modded NTC3 rates??? and a bone stock NTC3 rates???

NTC3 is a great car for him to start out with, the rating you're asking for is a little subjective, as the car in the right hands could hand down a whooping. It all depends on how the driver sets the car up, and drives it. It's a great car, I just dusted mine off and raced it this weekend.

I would just leave NTC3 just as is. Parts for the NTC3 are cheap and can be found at any good hobby store. Once he has a good grasp on setup and engine tuning; then I would jump into the more exotic cars ie Serpent,Mugen...etc. The NTC3 is a great chassis depending on track layout it is just as good as the more expensive cars. Invest your money into spare parts not hop-ups. Maybe a decent engine. Make sure you get an SG style crank engine so when he is ready to change cars he already has the engine.

definatly invest in a full set of bearings i have my FT next to my buddies RTR on my tool box and the biggest difference between the two is that riding on full bearings it frees up alot more power, accel, and doesnt scrub the speed as fast. Other than that invest in an engine, pipe and your pretty much good to go with a novice racer right there.

The NTC3 is a great car to start with. I used it to train my self on dialing in a car. Also remember Barry Baker used the NTC3 to run at the worlds a while back so the car is no slouch, as far as parts the sky is the limit as to how far you want to invest in the car.

This past weekend a driver came to the Homestead Rc speedway with a out the box RTR NTC3 and competed in the B main.
