Default What motor is best for 1/8 onroad

I am trying to find the best motor for 300 to 400 dollars. Has anyone tried a Axe Rossi 21 COBRA Onroad or Axe Rossi 21 Mamba Onroad motor.

What are you planning on doing? I.e. racing having fun?
How competive do you want to be?
There are lots of different motors but there is one that is right for every one. If you want to be competitive with some of the fast guys you may need to go for a more expensive motor such as a nova or any nova biased motor, and that is like the top of the line stuff. then you can go with the middle of the line stuff such as the picco based products which are good and competive but they just donít have some of the top or rpms that some of the other motors run, i.e. like on the strait you may get motored a lil bit but not much. to be honest there is no bottom of the line motors they all are great but I would have to say that the picco motors are the best bang for the buck and you may be able to find some new modded ones in your price range that will be Competitive with all the motors.

Thanks,

I am new to the onroad, but once I get the feel of the car, I don't want to be losing because the motor won't keep up. There are many fast guys in my area and I have a lot of learning to do.

Has anyone used the Axe Rossi engines?

I would suggest the Mega ZX21 DSII+ ,for the money and power its the best bang for your buck,i run them myself i love them,i would not spend $500 plus for the other engines out there when you can get a ZX for arroung $350 for the engine and arround $450 for the powerpack which is engine and pipe..

Hi bigmike, have a look at the maxpower stuff if your looking for something that will be fast and last a long time. I know there on the more expensive side but they are very fast and last along time.

BigMike,

How are you liking D.C. I found a Max M5 with a little pond scum on it, it should run fine once you clean it up lol.

Default Best motor for 1/8

Contact Team Kamikaze in the racing forum
The new Pico 21 <even the stock motor> is very fast.
They also have a mdified verion but it is of course more money.
I picked up two modifieds from Sam at Team Kamikaze, and the motors have very easy and quick break in, Very fast, and the prices are hard to beat.
I was amazed how many drivers at our track are now using the Pico.
Great motors
I have very much doubt I will be buying the Novarossi high dollar motors any more now that I know of and use the Pico.
