silicone pipe/manifold tape
Could anyone tell me where to find the clear silicone tape used to secure the pipe and manifold?
Thanks, Steve |
Are you talking about the coupler that holds the pipe and header together? Its more like a short piece of hose, not tape. You can get one at most hobby shops. I know GS silicone sells a killer coupler with some type of reinforcement in it. I have 2 of those from way back and have never been able to break them.

Thanks, Steve I have used two different brands. One I found at Home Dept. <clear tape> and it would work ok, but not the best. Then I found a black silicone tape at Harbor Freight tools <under $3.00> and this tape is geat. I have used the black tape on all of my 1/10 and 1/8 cars. |
Here ya go Steve

Roy, I know what your talking about, and its not that. Picture a 1 piece pipe and manifold, then you wrap the tape around the entire pipe/manifold joint. What this does is keep the springs intact and therefore no separation in the event of an impact.

Thanks BRC, they just opened a Harbor Freight by my home!
Regards, Steve Not only does it keep the springs intact, but it really cuts down on the oil residue from the gasket connection. I wrap around four layers of tape<very tight> It works a lot better if you remove the header and pipe from the engine, this way you can wrap it all the way around the springs and pull it very tight. give it a shot BRC |
