Default RS4 Nitro 3 thread

Maybe there is already such a thread , but cant seem to find it.
here's another go.

Question:
is the RS4 capable of accepting Rear exhaust,SG shafted engines?

what other hopups recommended for it?

Yes, you can use the tc3 rear exhaust manifold and use a modified flywheel from wolfpack radicals. This info is at www.hpiracing.com, in the forums.

any suggestions for a good rear exhaust, threaded shaft engine?

i saw in HPI that the OS 12TR is good, but it's rated for 1.1hp.
as i remember , the 12R SS is also rated for 1+hp???

neither of them, dont belive anyone on HP or RPM specs.

because there are to many factors, like tunning, or nitro percentage, or a tunned pipe, that will make the figures change drimatically

listen carefully to what I am saying.....I have an SS...(as well as 17 other HPis)..as well as tc3 nitros's,etc...

first off, there is no way the SS motor is as fast as ANY of the cvr's..and that includes the side exhaust CVr 12....The SS motor in my car was a joke......

second..I put teh side exhaust cvr in my car and it ran better..

I then installed a RB re turbo in it...and ruined the handling..

The SS drives worse the faster you make it.....Don't listen to HPI,thse HPI forums,etc...at the most, put a side exhaust cvr 12 in it..and have fun with the car..

if you want a track car,get the tc3(or wheatever pto car you want)..you cane even wait for HPIs r 40..

Hey, fast Harry, I totally agree with you on the .12ss engine. My 2 year old O.S. engine .15 Hypver CV totally blows it away. The horsepower rating doesn't really mean anything seemingly when comparing the two. I plan on getting another engine for my SS.

Anything except an HPI enigne.

I have an RS4... which started out as a RTR.

You can ask cybertoolzz... it is pretty quick now.

What I did was switch out the 15FE [really crappy] engine for the HPI 12R SC engine with the 32mm lightweight flywheel. I added an HPI racing clutch, and then strapped on the HPI 2 speed as well as the RD Logics tuned pipe for the RS4.

The car runs in the high 40's to low 50's, mph-wise.

That's just MY experience with it, and I love it!

I have a few pointers:
for the 12R SS engine, the 2 speed spring is BLACK(86050b).
for shifting problems,1st make sure that the 2nd gear is properly srewed onto the shaft.
next make sure it is turning in the right direction.
after that , adjust the shift point.
these are the steps which brought back my 2 speed into action.

I also plan to overhaul the engine sometime soon..but i'm not so sure i want to invest more money into this car..

Well, I ran my car Friday night... and after replacing the stripped 1st gear spur gear, it ran great... Untill about 3 tanks later, when it BROKE A DRIVE SHAFT!

That's the only thing I can think happened, since the cups on the 2 speed and the rear diff are fine, and there was no rear drive shaft. So I got some new drive shafts and switched out the purple [medium] pinion gears for the red ones. Now she has plenty of acceleration [for me] and lots of top end. A few MPH faster than last time.

The only problem I'm still having with the engine is temperature. I put the Hot Bodies head on there, and it's still running 275 degrees fahrenheit with the body off. Most of the head is in the low 200's and the glow plug is still at most, 190. There is always one spot on the head that hits 260 - 280 though, which kinda bugs me, but oh well. I figure I'll just run the sucker how it wants to be run [in order to get a properly crisp jump off the line and top end to not be too lean], and see how long the piston/sleeve lasts. It was a cheap enough motor anyway.
