Default Setting Question?

I am running a MTX-4 and I allways set the clutch the clearence of the spring nut to .75 and fells ok over all. I ran the first race of the 2008 season with this setting and the car works fine, the track have good traction and have open turns and medium size, but the second race is in al low traction, close turns and long size track(long straight).
Should I change the setting moore tight or loose?
I know that the range is between .6 and 1.0mm
Please some feed back from moore experience drivers from this forum.
Thanx

When you loosen the nut, you take tension off the spring. That means the clutch shoes can engage sooner in the RPM because they don't have to push as hard to come out and engage the endbell. When you tighten the nut, you put more tension on the spring which means the shoes have to push harder to make contact. Since they have to push harder, the RPMs will be a lot higher when they engage. If the back end is coming around and you want to adjust the clutch to engage at lower RPMs, you loosen the nut. If you want more pull out of the corner, you want the clutch to engage at higher RPMs so you tighten the nut. Hope that helps you understand it a little better.

You can also leave the clutch alone and gear it better for the other track. If the track is lower traction and longer straights go with longer gearing on first and second. Maybe 1 tooth on the pinion for 1st and 2nd gear.

Default Gearing

I would agree, and try tweaking your gearing. I usually will go up 1 tooth to smooth things out coming out of the corners. Every car and driver is different though. I try not to mess with the clutch too much once I get it set right.

this info sounds pretty spot on , small tight tracks loosen and large sweepers long straights tighten then tyre grip will play a part also.
cheers
