Default Header Pipe Question

Could someone please explain the effects of shortening/lengthening the header pipe?

A longer header should give more torque.
While a shorter header should create more power.

Thanks for the info, I am in the process of creating a true rear exhaust set-up.

Longer: more bottom power, less rpm
Shorter: less bottom power more rpm
