Has the track prep. been completed? Any testing done yet?
Wondering what shore tires and how many to bring for 1/8 scale.

The track prep has gone as far as it can until the temporary track is built. The preliminary tests went well with good traction and much better tire wear than last year. The consensus of those who participated in the test, was that the 1/8's will use 35 shore front and rear and the 1/10's will use 38-40 shore front and rear.

Next Saturday the temporary track will be set up for more testing and to make any adjustments or tweaks to the track. We should have a pretty good idea on where we are with desired shore numbers after this test.

Default IGP Free Test and Tune Day

Homestead RC Raceway invites you to a free test and tune practice day on the track that will be used for the 2nd Annual International Grand Prix.

Homestead Miami Speedway has been very kind and given us permission to build our temporary track for this event on site a week early. We would like to take advantage of this opportunity and make the track available for a free test and tune day, this coming Saturday, March 22nd.

This will be an excellent opportunity to get a feel for the layout, work on set ups and figure out tire selection.

Doug,

How was tire wear at the test and tune? What shores was everyone using?

Looking foward to seeing everyone Friday morning.

I went to the track yesterday with Art, but it rained all day. Went back today to find more of the same. The only person who got to do any "test and tune" was Enrique, who put on rubber tires with tread - he got around just fine, but it took him a while to dry off the car afterwards.

I took a few photos, but not many. Here's one I just posted on SGrid. The r/c track is right next to the entrance for Homestead Miami Speedway, where 150,000 race fans will get to see a little r/c racing next weekend!! At least the asphalt will be clean...:

Left for a nice dinner at a nearby Cuban Restaurant, then went back to the track for a while, then headed home. Here's a photo of Art's cats - well, to them Art is just "their" human I guess. Nobody can own a cat. :-)

Mother Nature was not very cooperative this past Saturday and Sunday. The track crew did their best to get everything prepped for Saturdays test and tune but the rains came and washed out the scheduled day. They worked like crazy to get things ready for Sunday but once again heavy rain and severe winds prevented anyone from running.

The track is all set. The timing loop will be put in today. Pit tables and chairs have arrived. The car cleaning area with air compressor is in place. The designated tire truing area is all set. I know some of the out of towners will start arriving Wednesday.

Things are coming together nicely for the 2nd Annual International Grand Prix. The weather forecast is fabulous for the rest of the week!

I think most of the guys are planning on 35's all the way around on their 1/8scales. Maybe 38's later on or for the finals.

This is going to be a lot of fun, especially with the RED CUP RACING TEAM attending!

Hi all,

I went to the track with Art today. Here's five photos taken to show the track, Art in action, and a view of what you can see overhead every few minutes...

The main action starts Friday, and continues with the mains on Saturday. Full report and lots of photos will be posted on SGrid Online, www.sgrid.com

Mike, your rc car pictures are always awesome and greatly appreciated. Your picture of that jet flying overhead is incredible! Does anyone know what kind it is and what about those missiles?

This going to be a great weekend of racing! We look forward to seeing you Friday and anxiously await more pictures and reports.
