Both of them can withstand alot of hits. Only downside to Kyosho are the screws which with $20 you can change them to allen. The kyosho has the durability of Mugen and the steering response from the Serpent. It is a very competitive out of the box (the WC). While the Serpent brings out a new part that improves the car and makes it not cost effective. While I had the serpent, they got out a new chassis which alone was $120, new shock springs and many other stuff. Go with Kyosho... and if you dont like kyosho and/or you dont have support for parts/setup then go with Mugen.

wow! this is the total opposite of what i'm hearing from others. i was told the serpent's quaility and durability was better than both the kyosho and mugen, not to mention the manual and factory support. i'm sure any one of the cars will be competitive but what will set it apart will be parts availability and support.

There are parts ie: metals parts on a serpent that last run a kyosho for half a season and check the slop in the outdrives crazy wear in there doesn't happen with serpent. And when serpent makes a new car it's because it has been refined not called a new name and price.

Actually just get the car others are running. If everybody is running serpents get one too. If the track is mugen dominated get a mugen. It's that easy. You can get support from the others that are running the same car as you.

Build the car first and drive it. The basic car is great! The 08 kit is loaded pretty well. Make sure you set it up to where you are running.

Mugen probably is the most durable in terms of plastic quality (1/8 Scale). In terms of touring cars they're about the same in terms of durability. In terms of performance mugen/kyosho will be similar; however, to date no car (1/8 or 1/10) has equalled the steering capabilities of kyosho products. Read the reviews...Test all the products for yourself. That's a fact.

How many guys at the track do you normally hear that they have too much steering (a good thing)...not many. Durability should not be an issue unless you're hitting boards....

Look at the 2006 TC worlds...the 720 (I believe) kept traction rolling/pushing....
