Difference in Kawahara Wheels (A, B, BA etc)
Hi,
Quick questions;
1. What is the difference between the "A wheel", "B wheel" and "BA wheel"?
2. Is a certain rim stronger then another?
3. Do Kawahara wheels have any offsets?
4. Will they fit the Xray NT1 and MTX-4r ok?
I did look at the Kawahara site, but it was very hard to understand....

This is A wheel type : 6 spokes, 26mm front, 30mm rear, 32mm rear
This is B wheel type : Star -12 spokes, 26mm front, 30mm rear, 32mm rear
This is BA wheel type : Star -12spokes, 26mm front, 30mm rear, 32mm rear, BUT WITH +1 mm OFFSET WIDER
My comments :
A wheel ( 6 spokes ) are more durable ( up to certain point ) because they are made from more flexible plastic. They are softer rims, very good when you are looking more extra grip.
B and BA wheel ( star -12 spokes ) are made from harder plastic, thus less flexible and quite easy to deform if you hit side wall too often. The rubber foam is more condensed than A wheel., and has taller side wall. Use this for super grippy track, for longer main final. <--- this is personal preference / strategy.
This is my personal preference, my taste for my home track. I don't know yours.
I personally prefer A wheel type.
For Xray NT1, I use 26mm and 32mm, 37 shore front and 40 - 42shore rear.
For MTX4, I use 26mm and 32mm, 37 shore front and 37 - 40 shore rear.

Does the Xray NT1 work better with the 1mm offset wheels or better to stick with the 0mm?
When you say the "A" wheel is more flexible, when comparing this to say GRP wheels, are they similar in flex?
Sorry, i only have ever used GRP in the past, so I am comparing everything off them.

+1 offset or 0 offset is your choice..... no perfect answer.
+1 offset might make your trackwidth go over 200mm legal limit.
I'm comparing A to B , not with other brands.
BTW, some says 32mm rear tires is illegal width, ..... but I think it's okay as long as the trackwidth don't go over 200mm. Check again with your race organisers.
