Default keeping your skills 'honed' for 1/8 on-road

..What do you Guys drive in the off season (Winter) to be a better driver at 1/8 on road?

1/12, TC, 200mm, off road..........

What works, what does everyone like?

Thanks,
Steve

I like using VRC. its always there and you can race people heads up in the dual player room as much as you like. There are also races online and tons of racing period.Check it out and see for yourself.

Mod Mini-Z on RCP track indoors. If you can consistently get around the track without touching edges, you'll pick up your 1/8 scale and it will feel easy.

I also run lots of classes. Trying my hand at electric off-road this winter. I wouldn't consider it great practice for onroad, but it sure is tough training for throttle control so far.

Micro 1/18 in a large backroom at a local pub.

In there it is warm, we can take a beer and have fun with these little cars.

This is what I use and it definitely helps. The only thing a little quirky about it is car setups you normally used in real 1/8 will not necessarily work well in VRC and vice versa. Still, the stick time and driving is there!! Another nice thing ( especially for me ) is you can bank your car off the boards for 5......10 ........15......30 minutes at a time and it never breaks.

That and watching your car ramp off the apex strips all the way arcoss the track. I'm trying vrc this year, if anything it'll help my throttle control.

My recommendation: drive any type of r/c. 1/12 is a blast when you have other competent drivers on the track with you.

Hey John!

This is Steve Perkins (from RAMS), we should hook up for some 1/12th scale.

....As far as VRC, I have it, have used it, but I think it is too different from the real deal. Better than nothing, but as stated earlier, the setups are quite different, and there is no penalty for smashing into the boards!!

1/18 4wd open class is my favorite! Makes the 1/8 feel slow.

Oh yea! That's nice!!

You can't stay away from the RC stuff can you

I may have to get a nitro TC after all. The nitro stuff @ Speedworld is blowing up!
I bought a 12th scale to run carpet, but haven't used it that much yet (per usual).

I hope all is well with you and Diana.

Life is good right now, I'm actually contemplating going to the 1/8 Winternats.

-Steve

P.S. are you doing any slot racing this off-season?

Ha, It is blowing up dude! I went over to Speedworld yesterday and witnessed some GREAT nitro TC on road. Billy was there of course making the racing smooth as silk, its the best RC track EVER! Guess im going to have to pick up the controller again.

Do yourself a favor and contact these guys: Sacramento H.O. Racers Once you do H.O. Scale you will forget all about 1/32nd and 1/24th.. GREAT winter/rain racing fun without freezing your arse off.
