I'm wondering if the murnan engines are as fast as everybody claims.
Why aren't they winning anny WC's.
Maybe they are fast but in the hands of a pro like collari
they won't make 5 min runtime.

I do believe the engine companies knows how to make a fast engine for themselve. For the market they have to take care with production processes and tolerances to produce engines on the safe side but they also do not want to show their own tricks. For sure the in the top 24 of a WC engines are factory specs. Beside that you will never know if they are using better materials than a normal production engine.

My personal opinion is that an avarage American motorsport fan loves tuning and would pay a bit more to get a "hand tuned engine", it is just a market in which Murman (and others) can provide. A fancy porting is nice to see but it will not give that more performance than playing with the timings.....

Murnan modifiications are effective and does improve the stock line of motors. It probably doesn't win the w/c because the top factory drivers are driving for the factory. If you can get a hand on the special motors from the factory then you got it made. If you are buying off the shelf motors then you will see an improvement and it is more than just fancy cuts but the finish on the motors will grab your attention....

i feel the rc industry is full of s**t, just like politics. most rc engines manufacture claim that you are getting what the pro's are using, and it pisses me off that companies charge top dollars for things that don't last or work sometimes and make claims that are false. i doubt the LC replica is not what he used just my two cents

Then I know you did not use the engine to its maximum, when using it at toplevel I know for sure you have to be happy reaching 5 gallons.

A good 21 probably last about 5 liters at peak performance. It will still revs but bottom will start to go.

Porting and crank timing work is pretty old school. All the big modders (JP/MAX...etc) knows how it works and has been copying each other for years. A shinny crank does not means it will go faster. Port and crank polishing only yield small improvement.

Perfect piston and liner fit is the hardest to come by. Those who get to match with the biggest pile of pistons and liners will have the best engine. So who do you think has access to the factory pile to match? I am betting all the modders that is setup in or next to the factory!
