Default Axe Rossi Cobra .12

Heres some pics of the internal of the new Cobra .12.
The internals look to be of very high quality and if the its any thing like its bigger brother should go well and for a very long time.

I ran my one this past weekend at the nationals and was very happy with it.
It felt very linear in its power band.
Ran it in on the bench for 1.5 liters and then on the track and gradually brought to tune after 6/7 tanks.

Still have some clutch and gearing to play with but from the weekend it seemed to like a short 1st gear.
If anything it still needs some more running as it still has some pinch and locks occassionally on the starter box when cold.
Most surprising thing was how steady and reliable it idles.
Its still early to compare to other engines but it definately is a good quality engine like its big brothers.

All my friend's Rossi engines like a tall 1st gear in comparison to other engines. The Rossi's always put out more torque than the rest. So you should take advantage of that.

I actually went to the shortest 1st gear with the Cobra unlike the DSII which wanted a longer 1st.
But still early days for it, ill be doing some practice days at my home track to play around with the gearing.

Must say the carb was pleasure tuning and takes small adjustments and again the idle even when rich was very stabil and that was using the recommended no6 plug.

Started running it in on the weekend, done the usual heat gun thing, run sweet for 3 tanks on the box then out on to the black top, all going good so far and feels nice and strong doesn't mind the rich needle either.

Raced with the axe last night and was overall impressed with the performance but i did struggle with keeping it on tune maybe the fact its still tight has something to do with it. the carb seems to be very fine on the top needle and course on the bottom.

Razzor where do u run your spray bar is it flush with the out side of the carb.

Braz i assume you talking of the mid range needle.
Mine is not flush, its about 1mm in and inline with the champher/taper on the hole entry..
Not sure if that helps.

I ran the 3rd needle all the way in the other night and it seem to be better than flush so where yours is isn't far of being all the way in anyway, I set it up as per what you said and give it ago, besides im still trying to get the bottom needle right.
Cheers
Braz

Make sure you reset that clutch first before you try and retune it.

As you will learn when you come down here the clutch will make or break your lap, car and engine. I made and still do sometimes make the mistake of chasing the tune on the engine when it is the clutch that is making the car feel doughy.
