I did notice when tuning the engine the stock low needle setting is quite rich and my carb settings at the moment for 800 ft above sea level is :
3.2 turns on hsn
1.3 turns on lsn

for the weekend this seemed to be the best place to be because as i was tuning i tempt engine after each run and on the rich setting i was around 108deg/c then it went up to 119deg/c and as i leaned out teh top a bit it started dropping to 112deg/c and ran its best there.

Plug came out clean and not distorted and i changed the stock shim for the thin one supplied loose in the box.
As i said before i noticed a improvement also by changing the 1st gear gearing and changing to the 1.8mm hard clutch spring.

Anyone running this motor should try the .12 onroad axe pipe definately an improvement over the hong nor pipe i have been running,
Gives exellent bottom end punch revs harder as well, still not as snappy as the os speed but comes in with alot less tyre wear!
This motor is starting to loosen up alittle now and is starting to prove its worth.
The only thing i have to get is alittle more economy, with temps at 110degC
it can be leaned of some more

Nearly had the Xmas Cup but sec gear was to late and ran out of fuel with 3 laps to go
Congrats to Marty....
Cheers

I hope to get some track time this weekend and play around with gearing.
Have to say it looks to be liking the longer 1st gear after i went up 2 teeth.
Biggest improvement for me was playing with the clutch on the G4S and changing the 2601 pipe to a Skyline VR12+.
Im going to play with the manifold length and see what it does.
The Axe pipes work well but are too soft and get damaged very quick.

110/115 degc seems to be the norm with a lot of new motors available.
If i tune any of the motors i have or the guys at the track tune for 100 degc then the cars are flat.

Ran the cobra .12 again last night and my run time concerns were all but gone, 6mins and then some is no worries.
again the motor has ran the meet with no tune problems and the only thing i did was lean it off some more, it come in at around 125degC and is reving out well.
I must admit i really haven't taken it easy on this motor and it didn't get the slow break in i would of liked
In the early stages of run in the motor gave me some grief with not idling very well as if it had an air leak. the last 2 meets i only seem to get the erratic idle after a race when its low on fuel.
Cheers
