Default MTX 3 QUESTION.

I was running a mtx 3 car at Jaction raceway on sunday. No matter what I did I could not get the rear end to have traction. Here is what I did to try to fix the problem.First I went to softer tire, rear roll center(a),stiffend the front, lower ride ht,I went through the whole car and still the same thing
Does anyone have a setup for the most rear traction

Thanx,
Mike Malinconico.

the MTX-3 was pretty planted in the box set-up. I would check your rear diff.
Are you sure your not over steering ie (too much steering up front).

add spacers on top of the rear uprights where the tie rod connects. I got this tip from a Mugen team racer--worked great for getting the rear planted.

Check the set screws on the pulleys... You might be running Rear wheel or front wheel drive. Go softer oil in the shocks. Loosen the rear sway bar.

I was running 2mm spacers on the rear upright,40wt. oil with 2 hole piston,
blue spring and the diff had 10000 in it.I am rebuilding the car to find any problems with it.Maby after the rebuild it will be better. Some setup tips would be great for lo traction tracks.

Thanx.

Remove the 2mm spacers. Go 100,000 in the front diff. Use the 2.1mm rear antiroll bar and be sure to set it very soft.

On my MTX-3 which I occasionally run, this is my rear setup:

Rear toe: 3 degrees in
Camber: 3 degrees
Shock position: Second most inner hole on the shock tower
Shock oil: 50wt (minimum)
Rear diff oil: 30000wt
Ride height: At least a half mm above the front's ride height.

The rear of my car stays planted when using either rubber tires or foam tires with this set-up. Try it to see if it works for you.

With the powerful engines that we are putting into these cars, 10000wt diff oil in the rear does not cut it (found this out the hard way). 30000wt oil slows the diff action down to help keep the rear end under control (reduces wheelspin, it think). Are you using the front one-way or a diff? I am using the front diff with 50000wt oil in it. Good luck with the changes and remember to let us know what did and didn't work for you.

check your droop screws and back them out for more traction and reset your ride ht. check your tire size front usually 1 mm smaller for this car .good luck
