good to hear that. I wish I would have been able to go into business.
anyway, on ebay, thier is some 9ball thrust brearings up for sale for $2.50 each with $3 shipping. I ordered 4 at a total of $13.30 to try. If they work, great, I'll order more, if they don't, I'll throw them away like the scratch off Lotto tickets that I never win on.

I've been running a "ball-less" thrust bearing for over 2 seasons now with no issues what-so-ever. I love not having that thing falling apart on me at the worst time. I bought the brass washer from some guy on ebay (don't remember how much) and put the old races on like he said and i've been running it ever since. Don't know why everyone isn't doing this... If someone had idle problems, perhaps they didn't have the gap shimmed correctly?
I check the gap every now and then just to make sure the washer isn't wearing down but it hasn't yet. I'm happy.

Yeah, but if YOU already have balls, then that should be 'nuff, shouldn't it? If you don't have any of your own, then you need them on the car
I have seen guys using just a pile of shims instead of the thrust bearing, when the bearing has been fallen apart and no replacement was available. Worked OK as much as I know.

I lost a last race just because my serpet thrust bearing broke and car flamed out on idl too many times..

Anyone know where i can get ball-less thrust bearings in australia. Who makes them?
I've found if you don't cheap out on thrust bearings they last an enternity, i've been running a ceramic serpent thrust bearing for ages now i have like 2 spares and haven't needed them, however running cheaper thrust bearings i wasn't even getting a full race day sometimes.

do you have any pictures of the ball less thrust bearing? does this mean that instead of a thrust bearing you just have a couple of regular bearings?

In a ball less thrustbearing the ring with the balls will be replaced with just a ring of a low friction material. I use just brass rings 10x5 which I can get at the local harware shop but low friction ceramic rings are in order (to make)
