I remember the day when I first saw the 3PK. Man, that looked like an ugly piece of radio. I still don't like the looks, I think the only radio uglier than the 3PK is the Nomadio Sensor.
Yet, I've run the 3PK since they came out (what's than, like 5 years?) and have been generally happy with it. Function over form for me anytime. The only complaint I have is the weight of 3PK and if the new one is lighter, I might just get me one, I'm looking to replace my trusty ole 3PK anyway, as it's lived a hard life and deserves retirement.

Looks aren't good at all. But, you can't take away the level of functions that Futaba has put into their radios (user friendly). To me, it looks like a cross between the old Profi and old Nomadio transmitters (ugly + ugly = uglier)!!

Looks really doesn't matter as long as it performs what it is supposed to do... The 3PK looked stranged when it first came out but lots of racers bought one for themselves and are very happy with it... I for one are very happy with the performace of the 3PK and can't wait to see how the 4PK performs...

thanks jiml...

dont think this 4pk 2.4ghz will be any cheaper. just like the 3pk fasst 2.4ghz; there's no replaceable module...

wonder whether they'll come out with non-fasst 4pk with replaceable modules??? it'll be cheaper than the 4pk fasst for sure...

it'll be good news for those who upgraded their 3pk to 3pk 2.4ghz with spektrum or fasst modules, if there's non-2.4ghz 4pk with replaceable modules...

hoping i can transfer my spektrum modules over to 4pk...

It doesn't appear to have a removable module, so it would be more along the line of the 3PM with is much less expensive than a FASST/3PK combo.

Default Love Hate thing

I agree that this radio is very unattractive, but everyone said that about the KO Helios, and alot of racers are using that radio. Myself included. I have the 3PK also, but started using the Helios for racing because it is more balanced therefore more comfortable during long mains. I think once this radio is out for a while we will grow used to it like everything else as long as the features are there. From the looks of it, these model seems to definitely be lighter and more balanced. The screen probably wont get scratched or cracked as easy as the 3pK.

well, I just confirmed that the radio is built in 2.4...which means no switching out for an AM module for mr mini z.....not switching out for my other cars that have an FM/pcm reciever.....and not being on my buyers list...assanine decision by futaba....

Lighter but still the same performance? What about all the buttons and knobs you can set on the 3pk - they are easily accessible for mid-race tuning. Doesn't look so easy on the new one does it.

The buttons by the wheel is the same as the 3pk as well as the buttons on the grip and thumb. Those are the most used while racing so I guess the ease of mid race adjustments will be the same.
