Is it possible to convert a 2005 evolva to a m3 or are they not the same chassis etc? I am in the process of aquring a used 2005 and I want to bring it up to m3 specs if possible.

Thanks,
Brian

Brian, unfortunately that's not possible. You can build the 2003 and go through 2005 to 2007 al the way, including al the option parts. However the M3 is a total redesign, based on the same geometry basically, but as far as I know, only the pulleys and belts are the same, very few other parts are the same, and definitely the chassis plate is totally different. So from 2007 you'll have to decide to leave the 2007 and switch to the new platfrom (or not yet?).

My question is, can anyone advise the precise distance from the Kyosho front bumper to the front of the new Protoform P909 body?

Default 1/8th offroad to 1/8th onroad convert

So is this the car to get? Seems like anything more is too rare or expensive to race much, and from the posted internet results I've seen so far Mugen and Kyosho are popular. Any other cars I should compare to? It looks like its superior to the Mugen by a bit?

Any suggestions on servos? Will the Hitec 7950's from my offroader work or should I pick up something speedier like 7940? Futaba brushless??

What spares do you recommend for this kit?

If I go to onroad nitro instead of 1/12th scale, I'd like to get the best, durable car I can. I allready learned that lesson offroad. Xray,Kyosho,Mugen held up so well the extra cost was negligible. Xray deosn't make an onroad car yet so that leaves the Kyosho. If this is built as well as the MP9 then I'm sold.

I'll probally try to start with a less expensive engine though. If possible.

M3 is an excellent platform - as far as spares (beyond tires which are consumables) I'd just suggest hub carriers and suspension arms because they are so exposed to damage, you'll also probably want to obtain alternate gear sets for tuning. I would suggest one of Nova economy series motors, a little less horsepower but built with the same quality components and materials .

Awesome, does anyone have a link to where you can get Novarossi engines and parts. I had no luck with amain and the usual places I get my offroad parts.

I'm glad I don't need as many parts as my RC8 needed.

For Novarossi in the US:

http://www.novarossiusa.com/

For personal service, with a racers touch, you could contact NorCal Hobbies, I'm sure they would be happy to help. http://www.norcal-hobbies.com/contact.htm

Default New M3 Goodies

Fresh from the mind of Rick Davis, as used on Scott Kimbrow's 2008 ROAR National Championship Kyosho.

The parts you've heard about - now, you can have them, too. Check 'um out

Thanks Rich!

I would like to comment that I personally tested these M3 center stiffners at this weeks 2009 WinterNats. They helped me make the 1/8th scale A-MAIN Masters Class. These pieces really give the chassis and radio tray the sufficient amount of rigidity yet allow for an acceptable amount of chassis movement that is required for effecient rotation due to the two-piece design....and they are also are a work of art. I highly recommend these for all M3 owners.

Nice job Empire Racing!

So has anyone run the new Protoform P909 body yet? If so, how far forward from the middle of the bumper did you mount it?

I'm also wondering what wheelbase settings do most people use & what the car felt like?

Long front, long rear.
