Damn, I was hoping for St. Louis, or at least more of a focus on permanent tracks. I'll be at those next year for sure...

Hey guys - I'm very sorry to hear that St Louis (Evolution Raceway) didn't get to host a MWS race this year.

We've been building a great group of racers at Evolution and many of us traveled to other MWS races in '08. No worries though, that same growing group will be traveling to the other events this year and hopefully we get the opportunity to host one at our track in the future.......

See you all on the track

It would have been nice to see Evolution Raceway get one race, I was down there for the HOA race last year. Great bunch of people, the track is a lot of fun.

Maybe next year.

Last year we had 2 perm. tracks and 4 p-lots. This year it is evenly divided. If one of the current hosts bows out, St.Louis will be in for next season.
The guys in Mentor and Racine, in particular, are active and enthusiastic MWS participants.
So, clearly there is more focus on perm tracks than ever before... But, don't forget, that a p-lot track offers a more level playing field! No locals running week after week/year after year on the same layout.
Anywho, we have Leisure instead of Detroit, and that is a pretty good trade (no offense to Tom).

OK, I'm back from racing in Wisconsin. Thank you Ron for your response on the series. I believe that he is making great strides being in a director's position. This is a THANKLESS job and is one that many complain about and have suggestions to, but would not want the position! again THANK YOU

-Eli

Eli, I am very baffled by how much you can smoke and you never seem to age. Do you have any secrets?

On a somewhat more serious note: I stopped by Larry's Preformance Hobbies on the North Side of Detroit last Friday. Those 1/8th Rally cars look really cool, but I was suprised by difference from kit to kit. I think Larry had 5 different brands or models of the 1/8th off-road - On-road Rally cars on the shelves.

We (Midwest Series) should probably have some rules for these cars. Other wise we will have Dude #1 (all about me) with his $2,000 1/8th Rally car racing against Newbee with his $400 Rally car with the really cool paint job. Both guys have there place, but it does not sound like much of a race for the $8 weekend plaque.

For sure the Rally cars should have to run 1/8th Rubber tires, but what about bodies and engines?

Maybe we should look at EFRA rules and see what they have set up for the Rally cars. They seems to have been running this class for a few years.

Does anyone have any suggestions or do we already have rules?

There are about 8 to 9 of us here in Kentucky that have purchased Ofna DM-One kits to run this year at our parking lot track and anywhere else we can go.

We have specified that you must run rubber tires and we have set a retail motor price limit at $200.

I drove one at the end of last year and they drive and handle great.

Looking forward to this class. The cars look very realistic on the track.

Eli, Hope to see you all some this year.

I'm definitely interested in a GT class as well. I actually have a Kyosho 7.5 so it'd be real easy for me to convert it into a Kyosho GT since the factory one is based on it. However, I think that a more open set of rules would be better. My question, though, do we allow two-speeds? If so, everyone converting a buggy would need to get one.

At most of the tracks hosting MWS races I would think a 2-speed is a must.
However, I don't make up the "rules"
