Default RED DOT glow plug?

HI Guys can anyone suggest a good glow plug fror my JL red dot? I live in warm enviroment?also does this engine use a shim under the glow plug?

the guy's here (warm spot ) use 6's.... they use 7's if they go to 30% fuel (in the US ).. make sure you use Picco plug's as othere don't seal correctly and cause leaning out and motor failure..( have see this )...but i would say to use a Picco 6 for turbo....

you don't need to add a shim....i'm not sure about removing any....are you usuing 16% fuel ?

hey dude yes I can only use 16% here in australia humidity is around 70-80% and more in summer also wheres the best online shop to get picco/ofna plugs?

I was reading throught the jl.12 thread and in there it said for 16% remove one shim,for 20-25% leave alone,for 30% add one shim.

are you running a red dot in a g4s?if so how is it running and what pipe are you using?have you got ed trans in your car?

Hi Michael, the IDM i run is very similar to the red dot. both engines are picco based and i use the ninja 6 plugs. as for the shims, i tried one removed for 16% recomendation and then refitted it. the top end is a bit better with both shims fitted. yu can gain a bit more bottom end with one shim removed. as for the pipe i used the IDM 2607 pipe, with great results. with gearing, the std ED trans gearing is fine for the engine and pipe combo. if you need a bit more low end then put on a 52t 1st spur. but i generally leave the 46t 2nd spur on all the time.

hi Paul thanks mate I just ran the first tank thru it tonight and man it was vey tight at tdc it seized there afew times, I put some after run down there to lube it up took out the glow plug and ran it on the box to free it up then left the glow plug starter on for a while cause I have not heat gun and she fired up and ran consistantly, got through half a tank stoped then another half and she was max at 45c very rich! oh and I removed one head shim and am using a picco p6 medium plug will see how it goes.

this is good info....and no i use a TZ 3P...but there are G4S at my track that use the JLR RED DOT and they are FAST!....it's a great motor and i plan to buy one to have in my arsenal of extra's...
