Mongoose and G4 are the same car from Team Magic. The Mongoose just comes with more/different options from K-Factory.

how durable are the original TM 18/19/20T pulleys?
i noticed that the 3 of the original pulleys (part no. TM502207) cost less than ONE hard-coated KFactory pulley.

how frequent do u change the pulleys? every 2 mths? mthly?

thanks.

You have the system with silver or black nut? I have the silver one and it's supposed to be the non-scratching but i had to dremel a little bit on it to make the belt free.

Got a new G4. Can someone share gearing tips? Are there certain combinations, for instance if I would like to make the 2nd gear taller? Do I have to replace the spur and pinion together? Can I just change the second with out changing the first or does it have to be both to avoid meshing problems?

thank you.

Freeride... Do you have the Mongoose G4 or the older E-class G4??? Also, what size track do you plan on racing your G4??? Oh, and the motor you're running will also play a key part in what gear you need to use... I could say run 19/51 first gear and 25/47 2nd gear and for most tracks that gearing will be just fine, but with out knowing the motor type and track size... As far as gear mesh issue... You shouldn"t have any as long as you use the gears that are design for the G4... Fill in the blanks and I'm sure I or someone can point you in the right direction....

when mixing gearing a rule of thumb is both 1st and 2nd gearing should have the same number of teeth for perfect meshing.

(1st Spur + 1st Pinion) = (2nd Spur + 2nd Pinion)

but rules can be bent. as long as you have no more than 2 teeth in difference between the 1s and 2nd gearing then the meshing will be ok

Well, after trying 2 new K-Factory tanks and 1 new original tank. Is there ANY tank available that doesn't leak? I have a Serpent tankseal i'll try to modify to fit..

I never used the K-Factory tank because they're leaking on the cap after used for a while. I still use the original tank till now.

I use the K-Factory tank that came with the Mongoose G-4.

Just remove the lid and put a little extra tension on the spring. I have done this with all kits as a build step so I guess I don't really know if the tanks leaked if left standard.
