I talked to Nickko about this and he said they are coming out with 20T pulleys that would help. They do not make a 26t gear. They might if enough people ask for it though. I am pretty sure a 26/46 would be the same final drive as a TC3 at 27/50 4.44 maybe?, and the final drive for a 20t pulley at 25/46 is a 4.41. This may be wrong but I think it is correct.

Default Engine Cooling/Body holes

Hey Guys,

I just finished building my g4 and painted a new body etc. It looks as if i should make a large opening in the cender of the front window to access the fuel tank, should i cut out a portion of the back and side window for cooling as well? If anyone has a picture i would appreciate it.

Thanks,

Blake

you will need holes in your body shell for cooling, the holes you make depend on where you plan on running the car, if you plan on running at big events they run rules, efra, roar ect and there are maximum sizes.
in the uk under brca rules, the front window is to be 50mm max and to be cut inbetween the window lines. we can cut the front side windows, and rear window.
its a good idea too cut quite a bit of the rear window away, but remember the more you cut away the weaker the shell will be. i would cut a round 50mm hole in the front screen directly in line with the motor heatsink

The NTC3 used standard threads and the G4 is Metric. Already tried that one... I believe the Kyosho FW05 has the same size clutch bell as the G4... They have a 26 and a 27 tooth 2nd gear. Went to the lhs... Ultimate hobbies... No current Kyosho parts there at all... No V1-RR, V1-RRR nor FW05... I guess I'll have to order them from the Border RC... I just wish I know that they would work before I buy them... I would go with 26-47 2nd... The Mugen's and Serpents have better gearing options then we do. I can drop the same motor in my Mugen MTX 3 and it's like night and day on the top end. Other then that, my G4 handles very well.. It just needs alittle more heart... Oh, and I'm running an RB V-12 and a Nova NS3...

The Kyosho clutch is much bigger than the G4 clutch. I think it's even smaller than the Serpent.

rc_alan:

I was inquiring about the 1st gear pinions of the Kyosho RRR and the person that was helping (on this board) had both it and the g4. He said the the smaller pinions (17t and 18t) would not fit (he had already tried). Maybe the larger ones will.

Racing4Evo... I believe that the Kyosho FR-05's clutch bell is the same size as the G4's... And it has a 26 and 27 tooth 2nd gear. I found a hobby shop in SoCal that has the gears... I'll see if it fit's and if it does, I'll test it and let everyone know how things turned out...

Alan,

I have the g4 clutchbell and the fw-05r clutch bell gears. I will check it tonight and see if they fit and let you know.

The clutch bell for FW-05R is much bigger than the G4. I don't think it is interchangable.

The G4's clutch bell is a lot smaller than the Kyosho. All kyosho clutches are the same except for different diameter flywheels. I am in So Cal as well. Are you going to race the RD Logic race at Revelation Raceway?

Racing4Evo... I was going to run in that race, but I'm still breaking in a new piston and sleeve that I just bought Tuesday... I'll be there in the afternoon on Saturday to help a few of my friends that are racing ... If I'm not mistaken, the Kyosho use's the same gear mesh/pitch as the G4 .8... Also they run the same gear ratio numbers as well. Check out this link and if you have seen the G4 clutch bell, you'll see why I think the FW05 clutch bell gears will work...

And

Even though the G4's clutch bell might be a tad bit smaller, the gears are the same size... My Mugen gears fit my G4, but the gears are larger... Waiting for RCNUT's findings to see if my idea if correct. Man, if I'm correct, what a big speed boost that'll be for the G4 and so many more gearing options.. Anyone that has both cars should check and see if they'll fit... I know that's a long shot.. Someone owning a G4 and FW05... lol
