OK, I have found my first dislike of the G4. The 1st gear ratio is with stock gears is 6.42 which is waaaay too big for the little tracks where run on around here. One of the local tracks is a bunch of sharp turns and you need to be able to accelerate hard to get to the next turn. The best I will be able to with a 19t pinion and 52t spur is 6.89.

I am in need of around 7.50 1st gear ratio. Are there any aftermarket pulleys to help get this type of 1st gear ratio?

I have mentioned earlier that this car will not be as good as a small technical track car when compared to the Reflex NT because of the stock and available gearing...

I don't know if this would be of much help to you but you could use the 54T 1st gear spur of an NTC3 (yes, NTC3 from AE ). The 54T spur will be a direct fit to the one way 1st gear hub carrier and they mesh correctly with the existing pinions. This is what the local guys here are using and they seemed to be pretty satisfied with it. Well, I don't think it'll give you anywhere the 7.5 1st gear ratio but you'll get somewhere at 7.18 Also, using smaller tires will help. Hope that helps...

Thanks for the advice. I may give that a shot.

Do I need to change any other spurs/pinions? It would seem that the 54T spur will make things somewhat out of sync using the other stock spurs/pinions.

Also, anyone know where I can get the 52T spur and 19T pinion for this car and get it delivery by Friday? US preferably, but I'm not opposed to any other place.

I don't think you need to change other things... The meshings should be correct I'm told. I'm sure one of your racing buddies run an NTC3 and will have the 54T spur available. If you're uncertain, you can quickly mount the spur onto the G4 one way hub for the 1st gear spur and check it out. I would think the AE 54T spur is pretty cheap anyways.

Check Trinity's site... I think they list the 52T spur and 19T pinion.

Found a 54T AE spur today. It screws onto the one way bearing where the G4 has half-moon like grooves that it fits into. I don't see how it would work.

Please find out from you buddies exactly what's invovled. I would love to try it this weekend and a big race we are having.

thanks.

I believe they are the same pitch. I was able to put a NTC3 pinion on one of my spurs and the mesh was fine.

No one has really come out and said it but I guess associated's gear are .8 as well.

The unit of measurment is different, the AE gears are a 32 pitch. If they mesh together correctly then go for it though.

Looks like they are I'll check with the guys on how they did the mod. But I thought the guy mentioned that he used the stock G4 one way hub. But then again he was fiddling with the MTX-3 hub too...

Is there a downloadable Instruction Manual or exploded diagram(.pdf) for the car anywhere out there. I went to Trinity's site, but they didn't have one.

I'm thinking of replacing my Reflex with this car over the off season, and I would like to get a closer look at it if possible.

Thanks

How is the g4? Is it very durable? Im thinking about getting back into touring and want a top notch car. Also what engines do you recomemend? Is the mt12 at the top?

Tony,
The G4 is one of the nicest kits your are going to buy. I have one, just recently added some K factory parts, and the car runs awesome. It is probbably the most innovative kit to date, but who knows what's around the corner.
The deciding factor is parts. Are you ready to not race, or carry a spare few parts. Possibly your LHS will not stock Trinity G4 parts yet. So if you are able to handle this, than the G4 would be a excellent choice.....
Good Luck!

hey guys I ran my g4 in cincinatti this weekend and I have to say that once you find the tire combination you like the car is awesome to drive. I only gualified in the b main, which is ok because I was trying to figure out some things on the car and we only got 2 qualifiers in, and I also arrived at the track late so I didn't get to practice and try set ups. I ended up useing 40's all around and the car was very good, I ended up qualifying 1st in the b main and was basically walking away with it when I got flipped over by a backmarker and the marshal wasn't paying attention and I sat for about 20 seconds on my lid until it flammed out, and that was that. All things considered, I feel that this car performs excelently and I highly recomend it. We will see how well trinity backs it up with parts, it would be a shame to let such a good car sit on the shelf for lack of spare parts.
