Default 18ss break-in troubleshooting

I have a brand new 18ss engine. All needles are set at recommended factory settings (for break-in). Fuel tubing is fine. Glow plug and heater work. The problem is that the manual states there should be lots of smoke coming out of the pipe during break-in, but there isn't any when I start the engine. Should I continue break-in, or adjust low speed needle and richen mixture?

Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Smoke reference is when running. If it's idling it puts out smoke but not a cloud of smoke.
