  • Clutch
    I run a 4-shoe clutch in my 4R and my son runs a 3 shoe in his 4X. I find the Orion works best in the 3 shoe clutch you can set it up very aggressive.

    Hello fulcrum2,

    With the MSR Clutch Spring and the Mugen Yellow Clutch Shoe:

    On a 4D Clutch set up: Put on 10.2 mm (and dial in from there)

    On a 3D Clutch set up: Put on 9.4 mm (and dial in from there)

    Measure it from the tip of the crank to the flat surface of the clutch spring nut.

  • Guys, what´s so special about this bearing? I understand that the spring can make a difference, but how does the bearing improve the clutch? Is it Mugen H0603 5x10 flange?

  • It eliminates some shims between the fly wheel nut and the rear bearing.
  • It doesn't effect performance, just reduces the shims needed to set it up.
  • Because the flang the bearings are placed a tiny bit further from each other which lowers the sideway play. But indeed it minimized the needed shims.

    For those who have used many axial bearings, keep the steel plates and use a brass ring 10x5mm as gliding bearing, nor more failing axial bearings for sure!



    These brass rings can be found in any hardware store, 10 for a dollar....
  • I like that idea but I haven't blown a thrust bearing since the one that came with my first MRX-3 died. Proper maintenance and they last forever.

    Plus, 5x10 brass washers may be common in Europe but I doubt many US hardware stores have them.
