A Nitro 2 speed works exactly the same way, with the exception (that I know now) of the baring style on the second gear......

To understand the electric 2-speed think of it this way when forward drive is engaged the one-way bearing in gear 1 engages the pivot shaft, meanwhile the one-way bearing on gear 2 is reversed so that it is freewheeling much like the one-way bearing on a pullstarter spends most of it's life doing.....

Swen, I understand what you are saying now. I thought you meant that the car couldnt free-wheel when off power at all but I see your point.

Now that you opened light towards the fact that electric cars dont have manual brakes I see how the reverse one-way operates in the electric car.

If I have this correct then when you use a speedo with reverse the car reverses effectively using 2nd gear. Bound to be sore on the batteries.

Actually the 2nd one-way is purely for breaking purposes, if you run it in reverse for too long supposedly it will damage the 2 speed..... (as per HPI)
