What do you think of STS RS3?

What do you think of this engine because I ordered this engine from TeamCRC. Any reply would be great.

I like these (RS3) better than my RS5. both are as fast (really fast). . I'd rank both of them kind of equal on performance but my RS3 idles a little better probably because it's normal plug (. . . . ??).
Got them from a supplier for 140usd including s/h. . .can't go wrong with these kind of pricing.

It's a very nice engine. You will have fun with it.

just got my rs3 turbo today - i am pretty impressed with the way it looks. the motor came packaged in shrink wrap and surrounded by foam in a black box. includes a nice decal sheet and full instruction manual.

the hand work really shows all over this motor - the sleeve work looks especially nice - the head has the sts logo and rs3 engraved on the top. the crank work looks very smooth - a center scoop at the bottom of the crank face and two more scoops at the top - one on each side of the crank stud. the inlet port of the crank looks much wider than a std non-turbo crank.

the case has some nice slotting also. the carb action is smooth with a big throat into a 5.5mm opening. it came with 3 head shims - 1,2,3mm so i can adjust the compression after break-in.

here r some pics

i'll post again with a report on break-in and tuning/perfromance... can't wait to see how it runs - i have the sts12 turbo and if this motor is even better - watch out.

I have never seen a sleeve ported quite like that, hopefully it will be a good thing. Should get pretty good gas mileage out of it for sure.

Cybertoolz did you get your engine from Team CRC or over seas?

tallyrc 05-03-2003 04:36 PM

how come on their website, the rs3 is black with a platinum colored head, and yours is grey and blue?

Atomik - CRC has them for around $175.00US

tallyrc - yeah , i noticed - seems the color of the heads keeps changing - my sts12 should have come with a green head but it came with this turquoise color head. i thought this rs3 was supposed to have a black head - maybe they are trying to standardize on one head color. i'm not complaining - it looks very nice.

it might be awhile till i post some feedback on this motor - i still haven't got my new car yet and i don't want to put this into my ob4...

more pics of the sleeve
