Hi Greg.

I bought the G4S RTR after being out of the sport for many years. This kit is significantly better then my "Racer" kit that I had approximately 10 years ago. The engine is not to pushy, thus making the car easy to drive. The car is set up with a significant amount of toe out, thus making it easy to turn. I found myself easily making time up on fellow drivers in the turns, but losing ground on the long straight away. I probably have approximately 25-30 hours of run time on my RTR. The only "Problem" i've had with it is that I popped out he front left dog-bone driving the car in the street.

Overall, Greg, I think you will be very excited about this kit. The only obvious upgrade I could suggest is a new radio. Crystals are just a pain in the butt.

I just thought of another "negative." their is no instruction manual persay. Team magic includes a rather large blow-up diagram of how everything fits together. I think if you are new to the hobby, you will want to seek out a manual. This way, you will have more confidence in your ability to tear the car apart for cleaning and actually get it back together.

Hope this helps. If you need any information on the car, let me know. Also, I have a couple rolling chassis that I would be interested in selling, if that intrigues you.

Cheers.

The quality of Team Magic is top notch.

It comes with a rechargable battery pack (750 or 800mah, I can't remember). . . so you will need a charger for that. A lot of people upgrade to a larger battery for those long mains. However, if you are just getting going, then save the money for a little while. If I remember correctly, it also has a AA adapter, so that is a good "back-up" option.

You will need a starter box for the engine.

Also, the kit does not come with a glow plug, nor the glow igniator. You will need body sissors and potentially a reamer, body paint, fuel, starter box, battery for the starter box, batteries for the radio (AA's work fine). That seems to be about it.

i would caution you on running the car on city streets. They scrape te heck out of the chassis.

Oh www.racedayhobbies.com is a great shop.

Don't forget you will need the appropriate tools to work on the car.

I haven't broke anything! yet.

As far as chargers. their are so many. I have a Prophet Plus . . . A lot of people like the "super brain" charger.

I have tons of G4S parts and the rolling chassis. Let me know if you have an interest.

My NitroKB.com Web site has a section on the G4S. The FAQ & Tips section contains extracts from the G4S thread here that RCTech that can help you with running the car. Here is the link: http://www.nitrokb.com/g4s/

For the G4S manual, you can email Team Magic at [email protected] and they will send you an electronic version.

Have fun!

Nitrokb.com is an amazing resource. You will find a great wealth of information there. Also, the Manual is also located in the G4S forum . . . somewhere.

The setup out of the box works pretty good. You may need to change your camber angle based on tire wear, but other than that, you should be set. If you're going to run on a small to medium sized track, with a lot of sharp turns, 180 turns and/or heavy braking, you may want to switch the front one-way to a differential or solid axle configuration. You may also need to change your front/rear differential oil, depending on the traction.

Hope this helps.

I would steer you to the Kyosho or Serpent. The Mugen has a gear stripping problem that is just annoying as heck.

The gear stripping "problem" of the Mugens is significantly over-hyped. I see no more stripped Mugen gears at my local track then stripped gears in TM, Kyosho or Serpent.

If you decide not to go with the TM G4S RTR (I hear its a great car so you can't go wrong with that purchase) hit you local track/club, see what is easiest to get parts for and start there.
