Default Setting up a Koysho VoneS3

Ok, I joined a R/C club in Australia and I will be running a Vones3 I have a few questions to ask about setting up the car. becasue I am new to R/C nitro cars.

What type of radio does anyone recomend for running a future 2 cars? eg futaba

What type of fuel is recomended to run on race days?

Are there any particular glow plug starters that can be recomended?

Do you have to buy the car and gear from a hobby shop or does anyone know of where you can purchase the gear from Hong Kong direct?

Do you have to run foam tyres or can rubber tyres be used for racing?

Where can you buy the Aerodynamic Mazda and Doge bodies from?

If there is anything that I have forgotten that you might want to add can you please let me know.

Hey Mate, My dad owns Warp Speed Hobbies in Frankston. Just pop in and see him, i have won 2 VORTEC's, 1 SA State title and, 1 Victorian State Title with a VoneSIII so just pop in to him and he will help you get it setup right. He sells racing fuel, protoform race bodies, glow plug starters and has a large range of tyres (most of the time) AND radio systems.

Cheers

Given that you don't have an extensive knowledge because you are just starting out I would recommend that you purchase your car from your Local Hobby Shop (LHS). This way they can give you direct advice about the car and provide some form of warranty.

The down side to this is that you will pay a higher price, however by supporting your LHS, who probably sponsors your club you are indirectly supporting the sport/hobby.

Fuel depends on your motor. If you are going to run that standard Kyosho GXR15 then you probably should run a 16% nitro fuel. These motors are reasonably good however do wear, but a new piston and liner is only about $45.

Glow plug starters come in various shapes and sizes and all do the same thing so it really doesn't matter which one.

If you are going to race foam tyres are the only way to go. Rubber tyres just won't cut it.

Mazda or Dodge shells can be picked up at your LHS and as far as radio's go, if you want a cheap spektrum set up go for the Spektrum DX3.0 for about $400.

If you have a look on this site you will find a V One SIII thread with a lot of good info.

Hope this helps

Is it good to leave the car as the stock setup or is there a basic setup that you can do to the car?
