I've read that the transfer of energy to the ground is much better (less energy lost due to the internal gears of a diff), but there is the problem of the inside rear wheel spinning too fast during a turn....

What can I expect? What kind of a driving style is required and is it harder to drive? What kinds of suspension set up changes are required..?

I see all the 1/8scale cars are set up like this, and I like the thought of not worrying about diff oil rebuilding diffs all the time.

So if anyone can enlighten me before I make the purchases for this type of set up.

Much appreciate.
May I ask, where do you usually run in Vancouver?

according to "Fire" here, there is one particular shop in your area taht rips people off badly. you might want to check with "Fire" for more information and not get your hand burned.

Speaking of pinions . . .

We ran in the Victorian Titles last weekend. Started off with new 0.8M pinions, and at the end of the meeting they are very worn. The track was well used from early last week with all the entrants practicing, so there wasn't much dust around. Total track time was roughly 2.5 hours.

I noticed this also a couple of months ago at another meeting. This track had quite some dust on it at the beginning of the meet and after four heats the (not new) pinions had to be changed.

I'm wondering if the so called efficiency of these 0.8M pinions is worth it.
Anyone else notice this?

Yes...0.8 pitch is very efficient at clearing money out of your pockets!!!! I have not noticed any really difference between the old pitch and 0.8 in terms of efficiency on the car.....more gearing options yes...but efficiency- very questionable.

it might not be noticible at our track. It will be more efficient at a bigger track like ACO as you may have a larger split of gears/ratio between 1st and 2nd gear without making the 2speed feels sluggish. It is definitely not efficient from economical point of view.
